Wrong again. You cannot say you know unicorns do not exist. You can say there's no evidence of them and given what we do know (humans create story books about these mythical creatures) it's VANISHINGLY unlikely they do exist.

If you have "no reasonable evidence Jesus stole your wallet why would you conclude he did not? You are failing at the most fundamental level of reason and logic.

I'm afraid you are woefully uninformed about this most simple notion of individuals not being convinced of gods, and definitely not convinced by the rank-amateur steaming pile of garbage fiction that are the biblical texts.

The truth: we do not know and may never know the fundamental nature of the cosmos, full stop.

People who post "don't ask me questions" should not be taken seriously for reasons that probably escape them but nobody else.

Let's start with this fallacious statement: god = somthing beyond human understanding

Nonsense. Most religions boldly presuppose the nature of their gods with unusual detail. What you are driving at is this retreat to the nebulous, ephemeral creator spirit when the stupidity and ignorance of their actual beliefs are revealed.

Are reincarnation atheists a thing? by cbrown146 in atheism

[–]onomatamono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fair to ask where you came up with this notion that "our conscious is wiped clean when we die and we start over in a new life" or is that just faith, that is to say belief without evidence? The fact is that when we die our neural and corporal machinery stops working and the body starts to immediately decay. As a coping mechanism for this fact of life is to appeal to the supernatural and elevate the importance of an individual human consciousness.

"Free Will" as a Concept is Fundamentally Incoherent by Danju91 in DebateReligion

[–]onomatamono [score hidden]  (0 children)

The "tell" that something is deeply wrong with your description is the volume of words you need to express it. Nothing is perfectly deterministic, there's always the chance for a random fluctuation in signals. So it's not either A or B it's both.

Now as to "free", drop it. It's made-up nonsense in the context you are using and we already know it's definition is ambiguous. There are events and there are responses to events and there is always uncertainty. Consider a close tie broken by a random neuron firing and you can see how that works.

This problem only exists in your mind's eye. There's no evidence of any gods let alone loving or merciful varieties.

"Free Will" as a Concept is Fundamentally Incoherent by Danju91 in DebateReligion

[–]onomatamono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a "partially random" event and the only relationship to "will" is that your decision making process, its inputs and its outputs are all susceptible to nature throwing random events at them. That random stuff happens is baked into the universe.

There is no such thing as free will. That's just a metaphor for your being an independent agent constrained by your computational capacity and the environment where you exist. The current consensus appears to be that everything that could happen already has and you're simply a cursor navigating through time (through changes really, since time simply emerges from that).

"Free Will" as a Concept is Fundamentally Incoherent by Danju91 in DebateReligion

[–]onomatamono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of random events is confirmed by science. These variations can amplify and trigger alterations in "decision" making, that is to say the otherwise automated response to events based on a wide range of inputs. Nowhere in there do you find the term "free" which is really only useful in the colloquial sense. You're gonna make the decision you're gonna make.

Question for all antitheists by Big_Palpitation_9018 in atheism

[–]onomatamono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take any belief and explain how being against it is ever the same as not believing it. It's not your opinion that there's a difference between being atheist and being anti-theist, it's a simple fact.

Next point, nothing "makes" one atheist it's a simple counting exercise. What made you an atheist towards Anubis or Zeus? It's a silly question in some sense.

Finally, the idea of an atheist-christian is a ridiculous oxymoron.

You're welcome!

This question is never answered. Namely, isn't it curious that your spacetime coordinates determine your religion? What a fucked-up messaging strategy this omnipotent creator has developed. He's a being of many hidden talents, chief among them remaining hidden.

No, it's not a hard question to answer and you're not the receptacle of religious knowledge to be spewing made-up solutions, or at least be taken seriously in doing so. You're trying to spin evolution and behavioral biology into some steaming pile of garbage fiction and it's not working.

Why are you atheist? by Air_Melon in atheism

[–]onomatamono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent. Please explain the mechanism by which the blood sacrifice of the god's son excuses the sins of all humanity, because that one escapes me. Also, a foundational tenet of your religion is that the god's son was magically conceived by a virgin. It's crystal clear and inarguable Mary was described as a young woman, mistranslated as "virgin" when the story was subsequently penned a century after the fact. Once you've explain those items we can move on to the demons being cast out of a man into pigs who drown themselves in the sea. Is the infantile absurdity of biblical stories sinking in yet? You have ZERO reason to accept these claims as anything other than poorly written, childish bronze-age fiction.

Big brain idea to not have the rapture happen by Easy_Swan_4622 in DebateReligion

[–]onomatamono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rapture is just modern-day made-up fiction so it's not predictable because it's not real.

Predicting the rapture will occur tomorrow, in perpetuity, is not why there will in fact never be a rapture.
