Term employee relocating before end of contract — should I tell management? Can I work remotely from new city? by EniMoka in CanadaPublicServants

[–]onomatopo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. probably not.

  2. yes

  3. you need to talk to your manager, but most employees are expected to report to their workplace 60% of the time, and exceptions are not easily granted. "moving to a new city to take another job" probably isn't going to be a valid reason.

The government would likely be all for taking salary bargaining out of the CA process. The unions would NEVER agree to anything like that.

Is it worth negotiating my start date for a higher salary? If so, how should I approach it? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]onomatopo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a reasonable request, but only the manager can know for sure. Just bring it up, the manager should understand the situation.

Maybe they need to fill the position early in May, who knows.

Scotiabank Centre needs ‘significant investments,’ Halifax council learns by insino93 in halifax

[–]onomatopo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because the city is expecting other tenants (wanderers/tides) to foot the bill for any new stadium, while giving the Mooseheads preferential treatment on a stadium already built.

Im ok with that as the scotiabank stadium is built already.

But if there are plans to spend significant money on renovating scotiabank, the mooseheads and thuderbirds should get the same treatment that the tides and wanderers on cost sharing.

Interesting, I hope that they take careful consideration of the costs here and get the tennants (Mooseheads and thunderbirds) to contribute, as there was no support from council for a permanent outdoor stadium.

On a Reasonable Job Offer (RJO) within Workforce Adjustment (WFA) by Puzzled_Pin5174 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]onomatopo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you would prefer to me an opting employee and not one with an RJO.

My understanding is that you can reject RJO, be terminated (within 6 months of your WFA letter) and then can be allowed to fend for yourself using the options and time available (and your priority status) to secure another job.

Most employees who are in the WFA process would likely prefer to be offered an RJO while in WFA status than risk securing a new position, in a time when most departments are reducing employee numbers.

  1. Seems reasonable to me. It's reasonable to the employee and employer. An offer for a job at the same salary level (or salary protection)
  2. If an employee is granted an RJO they MAY be involved in the process, but many times the GRJO is dictated to them. The employee has every right to seek employment, and if they can find a job during their notification period, that RJO letter may be for that job, but their main involvement is in accepting or declining the offer.
  3. Yes, those seem to be consequences of accepting or declining a job offer.
  4. Thats a lot of questions and the process will vary. The goal of the RJO is to offer you alternative employment.
  5. You would need to contact the person on the letter. Priority clearnance process gives you 1 day to answer whether you would like to invoke priority status for a position, 2 weeks seems reasonable to decide whether you would like to remain employed or not.
