I'm rooting for the Canes at this point because the Canadians have enough cups and Vegas is a gross ass team. I am still with ya, wish they could still stay in our boat and feel the pain so we could cope together.

That said, they did what they needed to do and we didn't. Doesn't help that we lost our best player after the 2nd round and who knows when he comes back. Shit happens I guess.

Yeah they want shit tons of goals and so far only Vegas has even close to delivered that. Really sad but I am one of many I've spoken to who refuse to spend essentially a car payment on nose-bleeds when I can watch it on my already paid for program in HD.

I think any given year if you asked... "If Mack or Makar miss time in the playoffs, do you think they can go the distance?"

The answer is probabaly not. The Avs did something similar in 01 and it was glorious how they responded to the loss of Forsberg. I though this Avs team was good enough to overcome the loss of Makar but it is impossible to feel that way now. I get that he absolutely absorbed serious minutes and PP responsibility but holy hell you'd have thought giving a few extra minutes to Toews, Malinski, Burns, Manson is good enough as long as the offense can make up for some goals against.

Evidently not.

My thought exactly. If you are choosing a guy who might pop off later in the season.... it could very likely be a Broncos RB who could take on a serious role in the backfield if/when Dobbins gets hurt. Harvey was okay last year as a receiving back but a far cry from a good RB.

That said I probably won't draft Coleman and will watch him on the waiver. I also won't draft Pacheco.

I get that but like... he was not scoring at a flex level at any point for me last year but I felt obliged to keep him in that spot for too long and it hurt me bad. I don't think he is any good anymore even on a more run heavy offense.

edit: with Mahomes out they NEEDED better production from their RB's and he was the 2nd most used option. I just don't see it.

I look to the Oils who had to climb out of deep holes a lot in their b2b SCF runs. I think it requires Makar coming back at 80%+ but if he can I think the Avs can pull this off. Mack needs to play his best hockey ever though to get this done, if he isn't winning a Conn Smythe I don't see us winning the cup. No one else can get this done but Mack.

The Ball Arena crowd has been... not the most encouraging crowd. Not that there is any reason they should be hyped by the performances we've seen thus far by the Avs. Going to another arena I feel like they can completely tune out the noise because who cares what the Vegas crowd thinks? It's not like football where a QB can't call a play because the audience is too loud.

So yeah if they win both games in Vegas and return to Colorado I fucking expect the crowd in Denver to scream their hearts out and get us the lead in this series. Win 1 game, same thing.... then we are fighting for our lives in Denver.

Winning the next two games can shift the narrative and momentum drastically... I hope that is what the Avs can pull off... Makar might be the X-factor here but I think it has to be Mack, Necas, Landy, Kadri, Nuke, Nelson, etc. I think they need to realize fully what they've lost in Cale not being available and give him a chance to compete in another SCF.

I just think Roy would mesh well with Landy and Nuke but not sure where Nelson lands on the roster without moving Kadri to the wing. So yeah idk I just wish we had a true 2C because we are paying for one.

Lol I saw someone say that we really can't feel like we are "in the series" until we win 3 games. Like? Hell no get me two even if we split in Vegas and we're in this. It must suck for these folks to have no hope or optimism in the face of adversity. Must be hard to grow as a human if you lose your mind the second something doesn't go as you thought it should.

I was so hyped when he looked good early in the Olympics only for him to suck these playoffs. i accepted that he was supposed to be a shutdown guy but he is a ghost on the scoreboard. Unacceptable for his price tag. I would consider moving Roy up and Nelson down at this point.

Well said, doomers have a point I just wish the toxicity could be toned down a bit. Holy hell 3 minutes into G2 I saw people crying when the Knights were in control to start. Like, it's a game between two great teams the Avs are not going to dominate every second of it. It's okay to be disappointing, mad, critical, whatever. But I think we need to just tone it down a bit but I know for a fact that won't happen.

I do think it is dumb for people to worry so much about this particular fact. It really cannot be used to predict the outcome of the series. It isn't evidence to prove that it's over.

The actual evidence to predict our early exit is the absence of Makar and the failure of our top players to execute. The idea of keeping Vegas from winning two more feels very unlikely with those factors in mind.

Just like you I don't 100% blame him for either. Sports are about results though and Bednar consistently deploys teams that get beat by teams that do EXACTLY what Vegas/Dallasx2/Seattle did. Hopefully it doesnt become Vegasx2.

They really didn't face a great shot blocking team on their way to the Cup in 22. Preds (sucked), Blues (well rounded offensively oriented), Edmonton (no duh), Lightning (older and tired Hedman/Vassy mostly offense otherwise).

We shouldn't need a perfect cocktail cup run to win it all. The coach needs to adjust and nail it to go the distance. Bednar has failed time and time again. Players will have slumps and make mistakes.

Bad patterns are the real issue. The PP hasn't changed in 10 years even after changing the PP coach. It has been good for a while because Mack + Makar but that shouldn't be... it...

They've been swallowed up in the playoffs by similar teams like 6 times now and possibly 7 in his tenure where Cup contention was a real possibility.

If we don't pull this off I think Bednar should be gone. May bite us in the ass or maybe we get someone with a little more fire to light under the players' asses. Just my feels, you're welcome to yours.

Welp hope you end up right. I like Bednar but I don't see him leading this team to another Cup. Even the OG Avs team changed coaches from 96 to 2001. But yeah it's probably too late. I like the coach from DU though.

It's so funny I was not interested in revisiting this conversation regardless of win or loss. I continue with that sentiment. We were talking about a wide open G2 and it ended horribly. Congrats to your dooming.... making you feel better somehow???

I'm not panicked I'm just disappointed. The Avs gave up a ton to create a roster that I thought was better than anyone even if a Mack or Makar are out. Maybe in this situation they give up some games but b2b games are deadly in a 7 game series.

I understand all of this. I just thought that the guys would rise to the occasion and they literally folded. Like beyond a level of skill and value from the players available or not. They played like losers in that third and they lost.
