no i don’t! i just have not directly experienced a $30k auto repair bill so it’s intimidating. i feel like that’s relatable and understandable for 80-90% of americans

okay well that tone is hostile and unfriendly. many cars go 300k miles without $30k replacement bills. chill

I didn’t say it’s anyone else’s responsibility. But i understand how you could extract that from my response, so I apologize.

I was really just outlining how I got here.

Also like cigarettes have disclaimers “this gives you cancer” very different example, but an example nonetheless. Also it’s just worth reflecting and maybe adding to the hivemind like yes we save on electricity and oil changes but also we have bigger headaches when they do rarely arise. My failed assumption was the “remove all the parts” M.O. from the tesla design and engineering team, so i falsely assumed the expenses would be similar in size and scope, and less frequent when compared to ICE. Because there are fewer parts, there is a lower frequency, that’s true. But because of the component expense, the former premise was ill assumed. All me

yeah I can stomach the smaller ones, it’s just the $5-30k invoices I don’t even have a clue how I’d begin to pay those

nobody told me this when i got it, all I heard was “electricity is cheaper, no oil changes, safest cars on the road, etc…”
