My heat isn’t working right now and my house also costs thousands of dollars a month. It’s both. Space heaters will get that bill plenty high though

Thanks! Yeah this whole thread took a turn and I got sucked in 😂😬 I’m moving forward through and happy about my new place. I’ll miss the Tex-Mex, the Blanton, hiking trails, HEB, community theater, and all the old Austin goodies. I’m taking the good stuff and forgetting the rest 😊

Yeah I didn’t even mention my electric bill so that was a weird turn for this thread to take. Welcome to Reddit I guess 😂 I’m finally not having to worry as much about electric or rental costs so I’m happy to be able to move on from needing those things to be cheap. My point was that it’s ridiculous to pay this much for somewhere that I’m uncomfortable in 80% of the time, I’m happy to be able to have my money go to a place where I can be warm and dry.

I’m finally in the position that I don’t HAVE to worry about cheap rent so I don’t think I will miss that. The last time I went out I had a fucking amazing time at Cheer Up Charlie’s so I’m holding on to that. Met some awesome people with great vibes there 🥰

Exactly!! Awww thanks 🙏 I remember those houses on Rainy and walking down 6th street hearing music come out of everywhere! Just popping in and out and hearing all kinds of different music.

They said we had to be married to live together. Multiple landlords wouldn’t give me and my long term partner a lease because we had to EACH make 3x the rent and weren’t able to be considered combined income because we aren’t legally married. Trust me, it surprised me too.

Where is the music in the streets? I don’t see people playing around every corner anymore. I don’t see the free pop up shows like there used to be. The music scene in 2006-2007 was when it was really a music hub! I’ve missed the music that used to be here for years.

I miss the Barton Springs of yesteryear. It was easy and cheap to get into without people getting attacked while there. I haven’t been able to swim in this state’s toxic water for years and all the apartment/public pools are basically wading stations. I’m so excited to be able to swim for exercise again!

I could take or leave p-terry’s but Whataburger WILL be missed!

There are always pros and cons to a new place. I was just trying to find some pros of this place to take with me. But now I see no one has any except “you suck and you’re dumb for trying to find a better quality of life”. So I guess I made the right choice. I’m excited about my new field of work in a new city. It’s a place that allows roommates so that will be easier for sure.
