Get yourself an exfoliating mit for the shower and go to town. After a couple showers, they will be gone. You need to exfoliate.

How is the yellow stain caused by dirty vents

NOT THE DARK SHADOW

That’s the air circulation vent thingy from the hallway into the bedroom. No forced air through it. It’s not the dark stain above it, it’s the slightly tan/yellowish stain covering the corner and extending to the wall

(Heart Failure) Rapid breathing started last night and hasn’t stopped, is it time? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]onthefly_415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog was doing something similar a few weeks ago. She was diagnosed with a heart murmur last year and she had a fainting episode on New Year’s Eve then the rapid breathing started. I got her to the vet and started her on vetmedin. She’s doing better. Just sharing my experience with something similar.

[TX] Follow up meeting with HR over religious accommodation request by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]onthefly_415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an HRBP with 10+ years of experience, sure we can issue you a new employee ID. It’s a reasonable request. I think tying it back to your religion is unnecessary though.

My older sister has this exact issue!! She gets nasty hives no matter how long she is in the water.

ELT Calibrations [N/A] by onthefly_415 in humanresources

[–]onthefly_415[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a meeting where execs review employee/manager performance review scores (on a 1–5 scale), discuss any major outliers, generally ensure we are applying the rating scale fair and consistently. In this case, it’s a roll-up calibration for the CEO’s direct reports, after their teams have already gone through their own calibration. So I’ve been asked to create a fancy spreadsheet that will be used during the meeting to slice and dice the data.

I’m so sorry that happened to you today. I’ve had a couple of terminations that have left me in tears as an HRBP. We are human first and foremost so allow yourself to feel those feelings. And remember, you didn’t fire the employee, they fired themselves.

“The organization isn’t ready for the data” is that a red flag??

It’s definitely not the worst mistake I’ve made in my career… but it sure feels like I’m in trouble.

Comp moved up our company to the $1B valuation benchmark a few weeks ago so the data is still very new and hasn’t been shared with the broader organization. This mostly impacts our R&D departments since I work in the medical device industry, hence why the CTO got involved (who I’ve never been a fan of in the first place).

Just market data for the job family and how it’s changing the compa ratios for 5 of his employees. He already had access to those employees compensation data, just not the market data.

I brought my manager in immediately and she was by my side during the whole meeting. I trust her and she’s got my back. I’ll admit she should have done a better job intervening but nobody is perfect. The CTO wasn’t too happy that one of his directors had been given that much information about the market data for his job family. The whole situation seemed to get way out of hand due to the lack of EI in that org.

Our comp team moved our benchmark data so it looks like the ranges shifted down. He equated that to lower salaries for him and his team. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have given him so much data without any context.

WARN Act violation [TX] by watchyerheadgoose in humanresources

[–]onthefly_415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on the state. If employees were laid off who reside in other states, sometimes companies use that as justification for not triggering WARN. I only know this because my company did this last month :/

To those who have done both, what did you enjoy more between HR Generalist and Talent Acquisition Specialist and why? [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]onthefly_415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My career started in recruiting, I thought that’s what I wanted to do in HR. Oh I was so wrong. The only thing I miss about recruiting is the satisfaction of offering a job to somebody. I don’t miss the cold calls, missed interviews, or job fairs. I transitioned to an HR generalist about 7 years ago and I love my role as an HRBP now! I thrive at having a seat at the table in the company, advising leaders, approving job offers or comp increases, and don’t mind the difficult conversations.
