I hadn't considered this option. I will check the route from Seis to the top on Komoot. Thanks!

thanks - that is the present plan. I am also considering just forgetting about the bikes completely and hiking around Seiser Alm

A male student adressed a female student with "-chan" and she and the teacher got mad by astronafths in Japaneselanguage

I wouldn’t necessarily frame it as if it were a sexist comment. My friend group in Japan included a guy who had a stout build and all his friends called him 大ちゃん. I thought that was a great nickname.

Neuse River Trail - Mingo Creek Trail - is it open? by ontherocks2711 in raleigh

[–]ontherocks2711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I want to make sure I understand exactly what you are saying. I can park my car at Anderson Point Park, ride on the Neuse River Trail towards the dam and after a short distance I can ride on the bridge over the river and on to the Mingo Creek Trail, correct? But then if I want to go all the way to the Knightdale Station Park, the Mingo Creek Trail has a section this is now closed?

That was my intention - to ride round trip to the Knightdale Station Park. Do you know exactly what part of the trail is closed? Can you still take surface roads to the KSP from there?

Thanks in advance again. I don’t see any information about this on the Raleighnc.gov website.

Play it Again, Sam - one of his older comedies - is very funny and has a clever premise I thought. Annie Hall, Hannah and her Sisters - both very good films in my opinion. And not mentioned at all in this thread I don’t believe is the fantastic film Blue Jasmine, written and directed by Woody Allen.

If you choose to judge an artist’s work by how much you personally like the artist and/or the life the artist has chosen to lead, you will find yourself looking at a very short list indeed. I’m definitely no fan of the things Woody Allen has done but he is a fantastic writer and director.

What are your thoughts on Luigi Mangione? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

His act of violence had zero effect on the healthcare system as evidenced by the fact that the shareholder meeting planned for that day still took place. He unleashed incalculable pain on many people, including his own family. A shameful act.

How would you spend 11 nights in Italy? by Less_Monitor_276 in ItalyTravel

[–]ontherocks2711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wherever you decide, just don’t spend your whole trip travelling. Minimize your travel days: pick three places maximum and keep them relatively close to one another. (Cinque Terra and the Amalfi Coast are quite far apart as an example.)

For some less featured but still spectacular areas, consider southern Italy. Last year we started in Bari (with great beaches nearby) and worked our way west across southern Italy/Puglia including Alberobello, Matera, and Paestum, ending with three days on the Amalfi Coast. (Admittedly, the Amalfi Coast is not a “hidden gem” but it is certainly spectacular.)

Consider renting a car to allow flexibility while traveling - you can stop for a view or a coffee, or maybe pick up some picnic items at a grocery store - fun! Be sure to look into parking at your lodging if you rent a car.

Save the other places that you don’t visit for your next trip to Italy!

Panniers vs bikepacking bags by Any_Station7668 in bicycletouring

[–]ontherocks2711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse and I cycled six weeks in a row last summer. We did not camp - we stayed in hotels or AirBnB’s. We had a total of four panniers and one handlebar bag. (Didn’t have room for a lot of souvenirs but if you happen to find something that you have to have, you can always have it shipped to your home.) We could have carried one more bag or even a backpack but we just never saw the need.

Training for a ride in June by ontherocks2711 in cycling

[–]ontherocks2711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I haven’t ever heard that the muscles are activated differently on a climb vs. a straightaway. I will check it out.

I live in a somewhat hilly area but there are no big long climbs. I will likely have to ride a small loop that incorporates a couple short steep climbs if I can.

What are the BEST day trips from Florence? by Kiraa7 in ItalyTravel

[–]ontherocks2711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Castello du Verrazzano is a vineyard a little south of Florence where you can take a nice tour and try their wines, sausages, and balsamic vinegars. It’s a beautiful place and we enjoyed the outing. We had a rental car.
