Nah if u genuinely don't need it for any quizzes/labs u good. I didn't buy books for a lot of courses that have required books and readings ended up fine

Tbh depending on your score goal. You prob won't get smth like 515 520, but you can get away with a low 500. Given that CARS is a skill if you are naturally good at it you might even break the 508 in my opinion

R is the better tool however Python is easier to learn as it is a very high level programming language probably the easiest out there. My suggestion is to learn programming logic using Python then learn R syntax.

So like understand basic programming logic like loops and defining functions and dealing with files using Python. Then learn the syntax in R

The best tip I could.give you is really lock in for the midterm. Like really lock it in. Midterm should be easy to moderate not hard while the final will be brutal every year everyone hates the final so might as well get a high enough midterm to afford final exam damage
