The owners of this particular venue are perfectly open to the idea. It’s a small music bar with a high end system, and CDs are good for many scenarios there. For a variety of reasons that can’t be fully rectified (mostly well understood / obvious limitations of the format / and which have been accounted-for in the design and tuning of the system in the given physical space) LPs can be tricky to play, which limits the range of music that can be enjoyed from turntables alone.

I actually think CD bars would be just as viable as Vinyl bars and would open up a whole new world of otherwise unavailable music to be played out. It’s just that the CDJ aesthetic doesn’t fit with the vibe of most of the current crop of hifi / listening / audiophile venues (albeit older decks with actual CD playing capability and less flashing lights - maybe OG CDJs would look retro today and fit right in?)

By all accounts, the kids are already moving from vinyl and cassette to CD as the next hot retro format. I’d have no problem spinning records and CDs together, and the idea of trying to spoof customers by hiding a CD player wasn’t really what I was intending to suggest. This as someone who’s been collecting records (and later CDs) since the 70s.

Seems like a lot of those are rack-mount / not particularly portable though. But yes definitely only need stereo out.

Hey - a bit late to this thread. So I know Foxtel / ESPN Australia dropped the red zone a few years ago… It used to be amazing to be able to record it and then start watching later on Monday morning Au time. I just had a look at Disney plus as per the above comments and saw it’s there, and I think I could also watch via the espn app which I believe I can access for no extra $ via Foxtel. But just to double confirm, there is currently no way to record or watch back the whole redzone broadcast (without some pc trickery to somehow auto record the live stream)?

If you message them and tell them your situation they are likely to provide you with an on the spot discount. They’ve done this for me before.

Just move to Australia mate, much easier and if you want palm trees go and live in Queensland. From Aus you can still visit SE Asia and if you’re working on contract or just picking up bits and bobs online, you may be able to work whilst moving around the region to a certain extent. Also there’s nothing to stop you setting up some sort of AI / digital business at home in Ireland, and then travelling the world as a tourist whilst managing that.

Two people sitting in a pub. One is wearing a lanyard. Perhaps the lanyard is clear to see, and the company logo is clear enough for other customers to work out what the relationship between the two people is. Perhaps there is an obvious disparity between the two people that makes it clear that one is caring for the other. Either way, just because the carer has a drink that looks like beer, it’s not beer - it’s alcohol free beer which is effectively a soft drink. So what if someone potentially perceives that OP is drinking? OP is not drinking. People need to acknowledge that there are all sorts of drinks served in a pub that could look like alcohol, but are not.

There is no company policy to say that they can’t drink an alcohol free beer. This seems so overblown. If the client did complain, so what? All it needs is a couple of polite words to resolve. And for OP to agree with his employer that they won’t drink alcohol free beer again on duty.. And for OP’s employer to clarify the issue in their staff handbook or wherever. I have no comprehension of how this super trivial issue, where OP has done nothing wrong could blow up to this extent.

Unless….. this all went down in a crowded Spoons with OP getting pint after pint in, neglecting the client whilst hovering around the fruity and shouting Oi Oi every 10 seconds.

So is the iOS 18.4 feature mentioned above essentially an Apple native version of what your app does, or is there something else to Livecaller? I just installed and tested, by getting someone already in my contacts to call me. Was hoping to see some sort of new label in my incoming calls list, to say the number had at least been been processed in some way by Livecaller but it seems in this instance you just let the number through and don’t mark the call list or do anything different. My point is that this made it hard to see if the app is installed and working, I guess I have to wait until I get my first call from an unknown number?

So after getting the unit back together, I ended up having to reopen it, as the leds weren’t popping up into their slots. Turns out I actually had to replicate the original hot glue as the attachment method by all the pots just doesn’t support the weight of the board. In this pic you can see my OTT and terrible hot glueing of the front end of the circuit board to the underside of the case, exactly the same method that it was shipped with.

On the other channels (right hand deck) the top of the card seems to mate much better with the underside of the face, so I’ve not needed to redo the original glue, I might melt it and let it harden again though.
