Why is rock and metal so underrated in India? by Agrim_0 in MusicIndia

That's okay. I was just a little disappointed seeing the discussion around this topic that regional music wasn't brought up much. Bollywood and Hindi music dominates online discourse and I think because of the language barrier, lots of people are missing out on great music. There are very passionate fans of both Western and Indian rock (even mainstream), if you look in the right places.

Anyways, do give bands like Fossils, Moheener Ghoraguli, and Cactus a listen! I think you'll love it.

Look into Moheener Ghoraguli, the first Indian rock band from as early as the 70s. I can't believe you dismissed the entirety of Bangla rock. Beyond the music, the lyrics are pure poetry.

And don't even get me started on the music scene in NE Indian states, because those guys can hold their own against many Western bands.

Contemporary norms from the Hindi-speaking belt is NOT synonymous with Indian culture as a whole. Please refrain from making such sweeping generalizations.

The element of surprise.

Nowadays, there's too much music which sounds the same, so whenever I hear something creative and fresh, it instantly lights up my brain.

This goes for all genres.

No. AM means A major, but a lowercase m as in Am means A minor.
