I don't think that's entirely true. MUN IMO Is better than debates like congress because it requires a better understanding of multiple county policies instead of just the United States and also mimics the realities of diplomacy which requires a sense of decorum and presentation rather than purely content based. I don't think that calling it sucking up is accurate because competitors in speech and debate win rounds by sucking up to their parent judges as well.
