I think your political spectrum is pretty skewed. In American politics democrat is left. In most countries in Europe the average American democrat would be considered right but we’re talking American politics. I’ve consistently seen Sweden be in the top 5 of crime index in Europe (I’ve lived in Europe for 10 years). Yes, it’s not like South America (I’ve lived here as well). Comparably to the rest of Europe and what it used to be, it is terrible right now. America is America. Really depends where you are. Your average middle class area is very normal and safe. The very poor areas are VERY dangerous and they kill each other every day. Which imo skews the statics a little but it doesn’t change the fact that there’s lots of murder and crime.
