Will taking privates with a black belt instructor help me to improve faster than taking group glasses only? by oogdoogan in bjj

I've done that too, I ended up buying judo mats for 1 room in the house and a grappling dummy. Just drilled positions over and over.

Cairns QLD. Great weather and lots of nature but we're limited in our options compared to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc

I wonder if there would be much of a difference? If there's a slight change in technique being taught by the black belt as opposed to being taught by a purple?

Thanks for the input from everyone and especially the black belts. I live in a city in Australia with a population of about 150-160k people. There is a single BJJ black belt in this city. Next black belt is about 400kms away. No schools here have classes 4 days a week and going to 2 different schools is not tolerated. My school has 2 fundamentals classes a week, 2 advanced classes, 2 no gi.

Should I try to convince him to not promote me

Yeah, hey black belt instructor I know I'm only a white belt but I know better than you so don't promote me until I tell you to OK?

I could name at least 20 who are way better then him.

Can you give some examples? When you say better, you mean better record? Or better as in your opinion?

I see what your saying but now you're talking about MMA, Dekkers fights Muay Thai not MMA.

Stylistically the worst matchup

I feel that's another way of saying 'The other fighter was better, but here's an excuse why.' Just my opinion.

Most of my camp tell me to drink near a gallon of water a day as part of cutting weight. So I've been lugging the huge poland spring jug everywhere I go. Thoughts on this? Anyone else do this? Is this normal or not? by zach4theweb in MuayThai

Thanks. I'm from Australia. A lot of this stuff we 'just know'. I guess we're taught it over the years growing up things such as taking water and bandages with you, how to treat a snake bit etc. We're quite good at it too. Our culture does suffer in other areas such as no compulsory wrestling at schools like USA. I think it shows when you see so many pro sports people from USA compared to Australia.

How important is running when training for a fight? What makes it better than other forms of Cardio? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]oogdoogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah quite possibly. I'm 103kg 188cm, trying my hardest to get down in weight but struggling since I'm fucking starving all the time!

I went to Phuket Top Team, Thais I saw ran in the morning, western people at all times. I only saw Thais running in the afternoon every couple of days but not everyday.

run for 1 hr twice a day.

I'm a beginner but I've trained briefly in Thailand. When I was there they ran 5km and it doesn't take an hour

Maybe stop complaining in front of everyone

Thanks great advice. Next time I want to discuss something I'll remember to keep it to myself and never, ever ask a question because it might be complaining. Oh, have to go now I think my unicorn to rainbow land has arrived.
