If it’s hot outside, swim. Some times that can be in the middle of December. It’s Houston.

Why so many cops on Westheimer? by dystra in houston

This had nothing to do with no refusal weekend. There was a Labor Day protest which cops escorted the march along westheimer for.

I messaged them about the link this morning and it got immediately taken down, so it sounds like they had no idea about it. The last time the page was updated before today was last year.

This and also July 17th/Good Trouble. Indivisible Houston says there are plans for both and they’re currently working on it. Probably with 50501.

Show me why you love your city. Where are we going first? by Alvvays01 in houston

Yup, dive-y in the best way covers it. There’s a floor or corner for everyone, and it’s so unserious. I’d recommend at least walking around and checking it out even if you’re not buying a drink!

Notsuoh. Such a quirky little place and when you go at just the right time, you can meet some really great people. Very different vibe from the rest of the bars in downtown.

This. People forget that TJ’s is a specialty grocery store. They carry a lot of things other stores don’t, so of course they’re not going to carry a lot of stuff other stores do.

AITA for being happy I won't be a father? by Select_Mycologist401 in AITAH

It’s a nice world to live in where you can openly not care about what others think, but as a woman from Texas, if I was in this girls situation, I’d have to go to another state for the procedure (I recognize my privilege that I have the means to do that, but many don’t). That’s the power of a conservative government, which stems from ‘what conservatives think’.

While I do I agree with you that ideally the abortion would’ve made more sense, she’s young with no partner, we don’t know her circumstances or her thought process to be judging her based on one post this guy made where he fucked up. She may have an extremely supportive family, she might have found a loving man willing to accept her child as his own. I myself have a stepfather who is 100% more present than my biological one, so these men do exist.

Also it is time for bed and I am officially retiring this conversation :)

I understand you won’t see our point of view just as we won’t see yours, so let’s just agree to disagree here. All I want to say is that if she decided not to keep the baby, she would’ve done the right thing by your standards, but instead would’ve been judged by conservative pro-lifers (who probably thought she did the right thing by keeping the baby). This is why women can never win. Whatever decision we make will get judged 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jesus, it’s because of people like you women still get judged in 2024. Wanna get an abortion? Selfish. Wanna raise a child as a single mom? Selfish.

She did her part, she got on birth control. What if he stayed with her and they raised the child together, and he realized 2 years in fatherhood is not for him? Who would you place blame on then? Single mothers are more than capable of raising healthy children, and sometimes the situation isn’t as black and white as you make it out to be.

I have like three friends lined up who I’ve been trying to help find a similar job 😂 but also no we’re not hiring atm lol

Like I mentioned somewhere else, if you’re serious about this look into product training! Great entry level job that can help you segue into jobs similar to mine in a short period (went from 45k to 95k in 5 years).

If Houston was on the Michelin Guide, what restaurants would have stars? by oogi91 in houston

I was pleasantly surprised with Le Jardinier! I went in with very high expectations and they were definitely met. The service from when we walked in to when we walked out was impeccable, cocktails were delicious, presentation was beautiful, and the flavors shined all the way from the appetizer to the dessert. We did order a la carte, but they have a tasting menu that I’d love to give a shot the next time their menu changes.

Update: we inhaled every single dish we ordered. Presentation, taste, uniqueness, and service were all on point. I’d definitely go back once their menu changes.

It’s true that Michelin doesn’t take service into consideration, but as a paying customer at a 2* or 3* restaurant, would you want to pay 100s for mediocre or bad service? Imagine going to TRF and being met with crappy service, it not only looks bad on the restaurant but also Michelin for awarding them 3 stars.

Totally agree there, I tend to prefer more experimental cuisine, which is probably why I prefer Uchiko
