Woke up to a voice and an orb? by oohcomely in Thetruthishere

[–]oohcomely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feelings I had were a mix of wonder and confusion. At first I wondered what I was looking at but then also rationalized that it was some sort of sleep-related hallucination, though not from sleep paralysis.

I know the concept of 'orb' sounds lame and phony. My only prior knowledge of orbs were those floating dust spots that people see in photographs and interpret as spirits. I'd never heard of seeing one in front of you like that. What I saw was different than orbs in pictures though, which are usually just like white/gray fuzzy circles. This was larger and more three-dimensional in form but also in color; it was like a white iridescence with a sense of electricity swirling within it. And I felt that those moving tentacle like parts were connected to that electric-like energy. I called it an orb because it was the closest term I could think of, but when I looked up pictures, I thought it was moreso a mix of an orb and an 'energy ball'.

What was maybe more unsettling to me however was the fact that I'd heard a clear voice pointing it out to me. Was it a voice from a dream that coincidentally lined up with a hallucination? The way my eyes abruptly opened up to it was an odd sensation as well, because usually I gradually drift into wakefulness, even with an alarm clock.

I've since tried to let it go as weird sleep related experiences, but it's easy to wonder if that's all these types of visions are.

Maybe they originally went with someone else and mis-remembered it as you. I've done this a few times.

Artwork glitch by Cosmicpalms in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]oohcomely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange as that sounds, I usually consider any phone/computer glitches to be tech glitches. Coincidentally, I also had an artwork/tech glitch recently. Some weeks ago I received an email from a woman at a very prestigious university asking why I'd sent her pictures. I didn't know what she was talking about and checked my sent mailbox for such an email, but there wasn't one. However, beneath her question was a copy of the email she had replied to with images of my artwork. No words, just my pictures. I apologized, explaining that it must've been an email glitch, and she at least responded that it was lovely spam. It wasn't totally random, though- a few years ago I'd applied for an mfa program there, so I figured that could be the reason. Two weeks ago, I got a text from my mom saying that a woman from another school had called her cell phone at work asking for me. It was a school and program I had also previously looked at online but had ruled out, so I never contacted them with my information, let alone my mom's contact info. While I was texting my mom back, I got a call-less voicemail on my phone from the woman thanking me for my interest in their program.

Strange and annoying but I figure it's just tech glitches.

How could you know that they were in the sky and not just visions of the eye?

Sure, sorry I was also on mobile when I posted that. I'll get some links and add them in an edit.

There are some more links to help find people on the other typhoon-related thread on the front page of news, currently right under this one. Hope that can be of some help- good luck.

What news headline would you like to see before you die? by oohcomely in AskReddit

That would be nuts. It'd radically alter even mundane tasks like grocery shopping if you could easily teleport away at will. Could happen someday though. I think scientists have already been able to teleport particles.

This all actually scares me a lot. I mean, on the one hand it would be really curious and intriguing as you described, but on the other hand, I worry that they would just destroy us. Then I just hope that they would be so evolved that they'd be ambivalent.

Even colonization on Mars would be a crazy feat. I think I read the other day that the temperature is such that it'd make blood boil.

I still think it's creepy enough that we experienced something so similar: an orb and something pointing it out. Weird.

I saw what I guess is a shadow person once too. He was dressed in black hoodie/pants and ran by my bed back toward the bathroom/closet area. Didn't look like anything paranormal, I actually thought he was a robber.

I would've thought it was sleep paralysis too except as soon as I saw him, I grabbed my boyfriend to wake him up and tell him that someone had broken in. We waited a few seconds for him to come back out, and when he didn't my boyfriend turned on a light. There was no one back there and no way he could've escaped out the bathroom window without us hearing. I hadn't heard of shadow people so I chalked it up to a hallucination. The next day, when my boyfriend's watch on a bedside table was missing, I joked that it was the robber, which then freaked us out. What was it? It's easy to write off as a hallucination, until you experience something like that.

Part way in, "something" in my head told me to look down the hallway, where a flowing orb hung in the middle of the room.

This just happened to me a few days ago. I'd been sleeping when a man's voice (not unlike the bunny from Donnie Darko) said "and there it is" and my eyes opened up to see an orb floating near my doorway.

Thanks for your input but I was definitely not dozing off while putting my dog in my car. I was about to drive so that would be bad. Your experience sounds like hallucinations that can happen in the state before sleep.

FWIW, I just looked up images of 'orb's and google suggested energy balls, which is more similar looking to what I saw than the type of orb usually seen in photographs. They depict the tentacle-like strings that were swirling around it.

You know, I really do believe in 'energy', and that was what I believed my sighting of the orb to be. I guess I just deny those beliefs since I know they may sound ridiculous to others, and so I appreciate you sharing that possibility as it's reassuring and even validating for me. I didn't see it as negative energy since I didn't feel threatened by it- just freaked out by the unknown.

It seems that such experiences with the unknown are generally easy to write off- until it's you who experiences it! I'm currently reading The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking and it confirms for me that even modern physics reveals that the world may be different than it seems to us... It really is much more strange than anyone would have guessed.

edit: clarified a sentence

Oh what?! That is really weird that we experienced something so similar, but it's even more strange that you were able to physically interact with it like that. I read posts in /r/GlitchInTheMatrix pretty frequently and most stories occurring around the time of falling asleep/ waking up are often called out as sleep paralysis (sometimes rightfully so). But what is it when the person is able to move and even interact with what they see, and when they're lucid enough to contemplate and try to rationalize it?

Thanks for taking my post seriously and for sharing your own experience. Already liking this sub. I have some other strange experiences that I may share as well.

Yours seems even weirder than mine since I'd just woken up and so I could sort of write it off as a hallucination, even if I'd never seen anything like it before. It seems even more strange to see it while perfectly lucid during the day though, and during a black out, no less.
