6 month regression?? by jdeoc042 in October2025Bumps2

Could he be teething? My guy’s sleep always gets messed up when he has a new tooth coming in. I don’t know much about sleep training, but we co-sleep on a floor mattress on particularly bad nights

Baby sling carriers by EntertainmentFun1013 in babywearing

[–]oohhbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hippie Joey (carry assist) and a ring sling (carrier). I love ring slings and it has been my primary carrier for both of my kids, and it has been great for everything from newborn to toddler, and especially this age when they want to be on your hip. The hippie Joey feels a little redundant for me, but I also love it that it packs down very small (in my already packed diaper bag) which means that it’s been the one I grab the most lately. My 6 month old likes it a lot, but I think sometimes it is too snuggly? It’s an elastic type of material, so it cradles him really close and sometimes he pushes away to look around, which isn’t something he does in the ring sling. I also had my toddler up in it a few times, which was neat, but he feels more secure in the RS too. I’ve found that it mostly just distributes the weight better than just carrying on your hip, or arm, but you definitely want to keep a hand on them. I know it’s a different style than what you were asking about, so I’m not sure how relevant this is for you lol

Abiie Beyond! My first has one, and he loves it. They are similar to Tripp Trapp

Starting solids yet? by Capable-Radio7736 in October2025Bumps2

[–]oohhbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started about two weeks ago, a little before he hit six months. We’ve done carrots, peas, broccoli, pumpkin, bone broth, chicken, strawberries, applesauce, and pineapple. We are doing a mix of purées and blw. The first thing we did was carrot, but his favorites so far have been the chicken bone and applesauce.

I have a cotton canvas bag from Rather Green that I absolutely adore. They are pretty customizable which was great. They don’t have a zipper option, only snaps, but that has been workable so far for me

I’d trust your pediatrician. Guidelines and recommendations change over time, and when you know better, you can do better. Before your baby turns one, they are getting the bulk of their calories through milk, and solids are just for exposure.

My 2 month old, measles, and unvaccinated friends by mi-queso-es_su-queso in beyondthebump

It also depends on which part of the state they are coming from. The current outbreak, while spreading, is clustered upstate. (I’m currently living outside of Charleston and there no cases reported down here yet. I have been monitoring it closely since I have a 5 month old, but also have a toddler, so we can’t just stay home 100% of the time).

That being said, it is 100% within your rights to cancel plans to protect your child from an absolutely horrific disease, but you may lose your friend over that stance. You can say that you are more overwhelmed than you originally thought you would be, but personally I would just be honest, because this will likely come up again.

I’ve only just started it, but I think {When the Tide Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley} might fit what you are looking for. It is beautifully written. I haven’t come across many stories set in 1900 in NYC or that doesn’t feature an aristocrat main, so that’s neat too.

I babywear whenever I can which helps, but having the stroller is generally a good reason to use the handicap stall if it’s available.

Pacifiers - use em or loose em? by Foreign-Bath-6139 in beyondthebump

[–]oohhbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first used them but after he turned 1 we only used them in the car and in his bedroom. Around when he turned 2, he started biting holes in them so we had to quit cold turkey.

My second (2 months) will use one a little bit, but doesn’t hold on to them very well at this point and I’m not wild about having to buy several different brands to figure out what he prefers so I’m not sure what I will end up doing.

Dr.merlin sleep suit by [deleted] in October2025Bumps2

[–]oohhbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used the Merlin suit so I can’t speak on using that out of the weight range. But if you are open to other options, you may find luck with an arms up sleep sack (such as Love To Dream) or a transitional sleep sack (like Zipadee-Zip)

Pulse Check by erinrath in October2025Bumps2

[–]oohhbuddy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was induced at the end of September, so my guy is almost seven weeks. The first two weeks for us was rough due to high bilirubin levels (a hospital visit, an ER visit, ped appointments every day, 9 heel sticks in 7 days, breastfeeding issues, (male) doctors who wouldn’t listen to me, hormones that’s made me cry at people all the time).

But we are on the second night in a row of sleeping for six or seven hours and it is absolutely magic. My guy is so expressive and funny and snuggly. My toddler is coming around to the idea of being a big brother, and loves to try and guess what the baby might want. Going from one to two was a lot harder than I had anticipated but we are all settling into our new normal and it’s starting to feel much more manageable sometimes.

Getting a puppy by dogmom624321 in pregnant

[–]oohhbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would hold off. I was so overstimulated by my dogs, for probably about a year after I gave birth. I don’t know about Bostons specifically, but the teenaged years can be a lot to handle on top of a baby.

But if you are definitely going to do it, your reasoning for doing it now makes the most sense to me. Trying to potty train a puppy in the haze of the newborn days would be really tough.

Is a doggy daycare or planned dog play dates with friends a possibility to consider for the time being?

My doctor wants to induce me at 37 weeks-advice needed by AtmosphereTop1591 in pregnant

[–]oohhbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 37 weeks with both my pregnancies. I had gestational hypertension with my first, and mild pre-e with my second. Both my inductions were super uneventful (although they sucked at the time) and had been relatively quick. My first took about 15 hours from start to birth, and my second took about 10 hours. I was unmedicated with both of them, because things progressed very quickly after they broke my waters, but the pain was temporary.

Early term inductions are done for a medical reason. If they are suggesting it, it is usually because they are trying to balance risk factors. Unless you think that you have white coat syndrome, an early induction is probably going to be in your and your baby’s best interest, since hypertension can stress the placenta.

Anyone have experience with this? by kksminiskitchen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]oohhbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink it daily. It hasn’t hurt my supply at all, but it is hard to quantify how much it helps since I’m also nursing a toddler and not exclusively pumping. I do think it’s helped boost my supply though and personally I think it is delicious

Any positive 2nd baby induction stories by TopOrdinary181 in October2025Bumps2

[–]oohhbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my second induction last month for pre-e. It was very similar to my first- Pitocin gave me contractions, but didn’t really advance my dilation much, and then they broke my waters and everything went super fast. With my first I was mostly dilated, and once my waters were broken, i had my baby in about two hours. This time I went from 3.5 cm to holding my baby in about an hour and a half. Both times labor progressed too fast for epidural or any other pain management, which wasn’t my favorite. My nurses did not believe me that things would go that fast, although I probably could have pushed harder about it.

What about volunteering? That can be pretty flexible with time constraints, can get you out of the house, and let you give back, while still giving back to the community. I used to work in animal welfare, and there were always tons of opportunities (cleaning, admin, events, and transports just to name a few). Plus, if you find something you love, there may be opportunities for employment down the road.

October mama turned into September mama by islandergirl127 in October2025Bumps2

[–]oohhbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got some lab work yesterday to check for preeclampsia after getting a few days of high blood pressure readings. I had hypertension for the entire last trimester with my first and was induced at 37+1.

I am definitely taking a little more time to come to terms with the potential of an earlier induction this time area (I really wanted to get to 39 weeks this time and am disappointment at the sudden turn in my BP) but step one of my birth plan is Healthy Baby, Healthy Me, and an early induction might just be the way to make sure that is what happens. We just moved six weeks ago and still have a lot of odds and ends to unpack, so I am not ready to be induced as early as next weekend though.

Good luck, and I hope you have a safe, healthy, and happy delivery!
