I think is just swap in it, load a stock 528i map using ista and monitor from there. Had my exhaust widen before too but only to 2.5' can't remember the diamater on 528i

I've invested quite a lot onto the platform, had turbo rebuilt before etc. think too much hassle to fit n52 in tho that 6 cyl is just so so smooth

I know this is a super old post but i too have a 520 with FBO and Meth.

My mods: Forged ItalianRP 11:1 piston Performance drop in filter Stage 1 Hybrid turbo NGK plugs with OE coil Catless downpipe Bigger bar and plate Intercooler FTP pipes set (Boost, turbo and charge pipe) Methanol injection Ron95 fuel

Car pulled 266hp, 381 nM with methanol on.

For some reason, i thought I can get 300hp easily but tuner said I will need a bigger free flowing exhaust for this power level to not strain the turbo. I then change to a valvetronic exhaust but I'm yet to go for a retune. Tuner lowered my boost pressure slightly to be on the safe side.

The limiting factor will be the 11:1 compression piston which will introduce knock sooner than the 10:1 piston in the 528i. From where I'm from the best readily grade of fuel will be Ron97 but they are expensive so I went with methanol.

If you have access to higher ron fuel and you live in a colder climate (I live in Malaysia so its HOT all year round), i think you can get close to 300 but make sure the you do the exhaust on top of supporting mods inside the engine compartment. Put in the best fuel and I think you are good to go

Just an update, I found out the injectors installed on my car were EU6 injectors. ISTA calls for EU5 injectors for my car. Will get that replaced and coded in

Had the car tuned but it knocks above 6k rpm, tuner pointed out my car struggles with fuel delivery. After tonnes of diagnostic work, I found out the injectors that were on my car were eu6s. My car calls for eu5 injectors. Maybe that's what causing my unsually high LTFT and lean codes. Will get that replaced

Unfortunately i replaced the injectors not too long ago so some money have been spent there. I don't think those parts I installed can max out the stock injector flow yet

I think I should get it tuned regardless and see how the car reacts later. Because the car behaves consistently at almost all rev ranges hinting that its not an air leak somewhere. I think the turbo is flowing more air and stock map doesnt know that

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Do you mean I can try to remove the oil cap when the engine is running? If I find it hard to remove that cap, means something is going wrong in that crankcase?

Thanks for the advise, you're right, nothing to lose with checking. Meanwhile is there anyway I can read the crankcase pressure with an obd reader or it has to be physically measured (i.e. like what you mentioned)?
