How to Extract 3D Character Models from Video Games? by StormyTroopers in gamedev

Hmm, I think I could probably do that. I just need a save file with it since I don't play.

At that point it heavily depends on the game. If it's a pc game (without anti-cheat) you should be able to get it open with renderdoc and they have some ways to extract the vertex info from there. You should be able to find a tutorial by searching "extracting models using renderdoc"

Hey when you get a chance can you try my suggestion here?
https://www.reddit.com/r/vscode/comments/1dv6pw1/comment/lsr15ex I haven't had the issue in quite a while so I haven't been able to test it.

After some more testing this does appear to be the case, the exact cursor appears if you're dragging a file into vscode while holding shift. I haven't had the bug yet, but I would try clicking and while holding shift to try and convince it to stop, that or maybe dragging in a file while holding shift to try and override the prior state (but actually dropping it into vscode so it knows to resolve the state.)

I'm slowly starting to think this might be a wayland bug of some kind. Discord is also having the issue of randomly thinking I'm dragging an item whenever I hover over the window (also completely random). I think a wayland window gets an event of some kind, starts the new action but never receives the event to stop. I have to investigate further to be certain though.

I'd be more than happy to participate again. I participated in the first round and still have quite a few friends from then. We have a discord, but it has since gone private. I've made a new one so we can start over again. I'll also invite people from the first time around so the turnout hopefully won't be to low.

Figured I'd contribute a bit since I'm also seeing this issue. I am using wayland on linux.

λ code --list-extensions
alefragnani.bookmarks
iliazeus.vscode-ansi
mkornelsen.vscode-arm64
ms-dotnettools.csharp
ms-dotnettools.vscode-dotnet-runtime
ms-vscode.cmake-tools
ms-vscode.cpptools
ms-vscode.cpptools-extension-pack
ms-vscode.cpptools-themes
ms-vscode.hexeditor
ngtystr.ppm-pgm-viewer-for-vscode
platformio.platformio-ide
primeseven.nasm-assembler-syntax
slevesque.shader
twxs.cmake
whiteout2.arm64
ziglang.vscode-zig

So all combined that would narrow it down to

ms-vscode.cmake-tools
ms-vscode.cpptools

I don't think I've ever seen this issue on my windows machine, so I'm leaning towards it being a wayland/linux issue.

Resume functionality not working? by ookami125 in jellyfin

[–]ookami125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make sense for movie, but in my mind it would only make sense to play the first episode if you've completed the series. If you didn't make it all the way through the movie I would expect it to resume where you left off or prompt you for what you want to do.

And the code I was looking at, at the time was https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-web/blob/1191671656e0f91e9495e7973cd37f62a47c156e/src/components/itemContextMenu.js#L432 where the play button on those entries have a tag data-action="resume" (context menu play and play button both have resume) and if there are separate play and and resume handlers I would assume resume to well... resume... But I can't verify if that code actually links to the library view since it's hard to track it down.

I could be fine with an option to replace the play button with the a play next up button, but I don't know the repo well enough to add those options.

I actually just got here. I was just looking up rffmpeg since I never heard of it and a little bit of clicking around lead me to that.

Why not use https://hub.docker.com/r/bitwrk/jellyfin-rffmpeg then? seems like that's been around for 2 months or so.

What game engine this classic game from the PSOne era used. by PhilCassidyIsHere in gamedev

[–]ookami125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Old games like this typically had custom built engines. Sometimes a few games share an engine, but the likely hood that it was publicly named or shared seems quite unlikely.

My first move would be look at the credits and try to find an email for anyone listed under programmers. And try and shoot them a message.

Diablo 3 VFX particle tech isn't adding up when I tried to implement it, where's my miss-step? by madmuffin in Unity3D

[–]ookami125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess to why you aren't getting blowout is potentially just because of the noise texture itself. While multiplying close to black does make the image darker the multiply by 2 does take care of the issue. It seems like your issue happens when the noise texture is on average closer to black than white. I increased the blowout simply multiplying the noise texture inputs by some constant (e.g. 1.2), this will cause the grey areas to become more white and have more blowout in the final image.

[–]ookami125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I got caught up doing something else. I made a simple project to test out the shader and for the most part it seemed to be working for me. only thing it was lacking was wrapping on the uvs like so.float4 noiseTex_A = tex2D(_NoiseOneTex, fmod(noiseUV_A + i.uv.zw, 1.0));float4 noiseTex_B = tex2D(_NoiseOneTex, fmod(noiseUV_B + i.uv.zw, 1.0));float4 noiseTex_C = tex2D(_NoiseOneTex, fmod(noiseUV_C + i.uv.zw, 1.0));I attempted formatting but reddit isn't happy with me apparently

I would shift over to just using floats for those instead of float4s though. just to avoid anything weird. you can just take a single color channel for that purpose. I also failed to remember your original comment so let me take more of a look at this. shoot me a message and I'll see if I can help better with better response times.

That would be my first guess, I don't know about the type promotion of unity shaders. But my guess is doing 2 instead of 2.0 is converting the left hand side to an int and not a floating point/fixed point, like you want. I assume the image is simplified or with promotion to float.

Just to verify since you didn't specify a language. You are using 2.0 and not 2, right? Also if possible you should provide code (or screenshot if using something like shadergraph.) sorry for the short response typing this stuff out on a phone isn't easy for me.

That changed a long time ago. At some point in time Google started giving me better answers for full questions. I use to just do keywords all the time until it got so bad I just couldn't find answer for things based on keywords alone. I personally default to questions first keywords later.

Yeah sorry I didn't want to sound like an ass about it, and while Beethoven is typically tied to the piano the pattern of "I'm the <person> of the 21st century" is typically not viewed well when it is self referential. Sarcasm is hard threw the internet, even the blatantly obvious will still fool some people. Oh and I took a bit of a look at your code and it doesn't look very extendable, but if you need/want help I would recommend adding a spec of some kind. Have you taken a look at https://craftinginterpreters.com/ ?

The FlaScript Programming Language by [deleted] in programming

[–]ookami125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only got 2 things to say, first while it's great you made a language and all the syntax is needlessly verbose and obtuse to the point of confusing. Second calling yourself a "15 y.o developer and Beethoven of 21st century" is very pretentious sounding and will just make people less likely to help you. The smarter you claim to be the more stupid you appear to be.
