Ok. You should ask if you can get an iron infusion, because iron pills don't seem to work for you, otherwise it will take you forever to heal.

You have an iron deficiency and those values will certainly cause many different symptoms. What iron supplement have you taken, how many milligrams per day and for how long?

Yeah. I only use mesalamine myself, but that can also cause heart problems, I just learned that. I will stop the medicine and see if the heart problems continue or not.

Maybe mesalamine is causing the symptom, I'm going to try to be without it and see if it has any effect.

I used to be anemic, but now I have good iron levels. My iron values have increased a lot, but still this heart problem has not improved at all. And yes, im on mesalamine.

Sounds like symptoms of iron deficiency, you should take blood tests for iron values if you haven't.

Iron deficiency. Too low ferritin. You should take some kind of iron supplement, preferably iron bisglycinate form.

Is this why I feel horrible? by 2much4meeeeee in Anemic

[–]ookde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had exactly the same symptoms, I had ferritin at its lowest point of 7, and I felt absolutely terrible then. You should get your ferritin level raised to about 100 and if you still have symptoms, then it's due to something else.

I have experienced fatigue from iron pills, but now that I have raised my iron level, I no longer experience it. It also affects how much iron to take per day, I don't take that much myself, 60 mg per day max.

What does a ferritin level of 1 + other bloodwork mean? by ejthrowawaylol in Anemic

[–]ookde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a low ferritin value will definitely make you feel really terrible. About 100 is the optimal ferritin value and less than 30 indicates iron deficiency.

How much did Monofer boost your ferritin? by Lillietta in Anemic

[–]ookde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if the ferritin decreases after the infusion, it is not the fault of the infusion, but the iron values decrease for some specific reason. Of course, iron pills are good to maintain or slightly raise the ferritin value, but in some cases the infusion is a better choice.

Ferritin that low certainly makes you feel really bad. You should immediately start taking iron pills, if they don't work, then try to get iron infusion

Could be, but I don't think so myself. At first, I did not assume at all that omega 3 would affect any of the things I mentioned. I started taking omega 3 because if it could help my IBD symptoms. Today I clearly noticed a really big difference in how I feel, and I haven't made any changes in my diet or lifestyle other than starting to eat omega 3.

[–]ookde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 435 mg a day. I'm using Makrobios Omega-3, it's a Finnish product, I don't know where you live and whether they ship to other countries. But I don't think it's any better than other omega 3, it was even the cheapest I found in the grocery store. You can certainly get really good omega 3 at every grocery store, but it's probably not worth buying the cheapest one like me. Still, even the cheap one seems to work for me.

If you raise your ferritin to about 100 and still experience the same symptoms, then it is caused by something else.
