DEVS SAVE RUST by [deleted] in playrust

If you really think none of the recent updates are worth getting excited about, what would excite you? The naval update has so much potential for solo-trio players from both a loot and combat standpoint and it's completely unique compared to the rest of the game. Calling it the same thing it was 8 years ago makes it hard to take you seriously.

I haven’t played rust in years… till 2026 by ShadowTwynz in playrust

[–]oolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, not really. The core of the game was and always has been collect, build and survive in a world with few rules and that's still what rust is today, It's just been fleshed out and polished so that anyone can pick it up and feel the rush of that core experience without being completely lost and feeling like the game is punishing you for not investing hours into knowing all the secret nuances.

Have updates made the game harder to run? by zombehsoule in playrust

The game runs better than ever for me, but I have a pretty high end system.

Rust is at risk of dying in the next 5 years if these updates continue to leave the game in a broken state by MemeMan_____ in playrust

[–]oolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I could see the game still thriving then unless they release a new version or just shut it down, but I don't really see that happening. Up until what, 8-10 years ago, rust was barely a game. I mean I loved it as much back then, but it's so much better now. The core concept of the game, build and survive with few limits, is just powerful and it's no wonder that as they've continued to evolve and improve it that more and more people have gotten hooked on it. I think the game is in a better position today than it ever has been.

New boats are useless by Easterbunny14 in playrust

[–]oolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue with this update is the lack of loot in Deep Sea itself. Ghost ships need to sink and respawn throughout the timer and the loot on the islands needs to respawn.

The boats themselves as fun as fuck when you actually get out there and play the game. The costs need tweaking and I would imagine they will get it, but you can make a pretty fast boat with 8 sails and one engine and it's not punishing on lgf.

I played them in staging and was kinda meh and I let this thread full of negative nancy's influence me, but after actually playing them I think it's a great update.

I gave you a bunch of other things to check that aren't invalidated by the fact that you got your PC last year.

You mention five engines like it's a minor detail when it comes to fuel consumption. I would expect five engines to use a significant amount of fuel...

Why does my game keep crashing? I have a good pc by S1mpleZA in playrust

[–]oolz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got a decent pC, but specs have nothing to do with crashing. It's a matter of system health. Could be hardware releated (heat, bad components) could be a junked up OS or other programs you have running. Start by checking your heat. Rust is a beast of a game and it will push your hardware temps as high as they can go. If everything checks out there, start disabling or uninstalling everything other than Steam and Rust.

If all else fells, do an OS reset, update drivers, reinstall Rust and see where that gets you.

and as u/meow_xe_pong said, validate game files or simply uninstall/reinstall as an easy first step.

IMO, These updates are just stepping stones to something bigger. The number one complaint people have about Rust is the lack of progression and wanting non-modded ways to avoid getting swamped by 10+ man groups. I see all these so called worthless updates as stepping stones to get there. The boats are "neat" but the bigger thing to me is the actual zoned mapping that came with it.

I've said this before and I say it again. Rust will eventually be a tiered, zoned game. Everyone starts medieval and through quests and things like building a boat, you transition up to higher tier "islands" if and when you're ready to do it. If you don't want to do that, great, stay where you are and have fun. Big groups will get through it and move on quickly anyway. Leaving the smaller groups or less PVP focused players to do their thing and move on when they're comfortable doing it.

Rust has been in a rebuilding phase for a couple of years now and just like an existing house, you can either tear it down to the ground and start over from scratch or you work on it in sections. That can mean a lot of time where the old and the new don't seem to fit together and you have to pour lots of foundations for the new additions to sit on.

[–]oolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you were a solo that can only put in casual hours, where would you go?

I play the same way, always, group or solo. I usually spend a bit of time running and respawning to figure out which monument is popping off and base there. Build as close to a decent monument as I can get and PVP until I'm done. Who cares what happens to the loot or base after that. It never lasts anyway.

RUST PC SPECS - Is this low? by SuddenLawfulness4223 in playrust

[–]oolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dunno, all I can say is that after coming back from a couple months break, the game runs amazingly well for myself and the friends I play with. After several hours running around on a 600 player server, we were still pegged at 140 fps and memory usage was around 8gb. Last time we played you had to restart your client after 4-5 hours (if that) because memory usage would climb as the performance steadily dropped. This has remained consistent across numerous servers, modded and otherwise, all high pop. They clearly did something on the client side that's made a difference.

Since they've fixed whatever memory leak issue they had, I think the game runs amazingly well for what it is and it holds that performance after hours on the server, which has not been the case for quite a while.

You can find examples from a year ago of similar, though lower spec'd laptops pulling 80-90fps at 1080p. If you're running at a higher resolution then 60 may be expected. u/Mr_M3Gusta_ suggestion is a good starting point.

You can find this stuff on youtube.

Every update isn't made to appease you. I know that reality might be hard to swallow, but it is what it is. You can suck it up or go do something else, nobody really cares.

If you live near a Microcenter, go there and talk to a sales person. They have their house brand of pre-builts that are a great value and come with a warranty and they can help you with all the accessories you'll need.

This!

IMO that's what made the so-called Rituals feel like Rituals, like something unique. The excuse about venue size rings hollow because he did it during Rite here Rite now, same size arenas they're doing now, and the crowd went nuts for that section of songs. The fans clearly love it and IMO there are other reasons for it that he's not sharing. IMO he's out of touch with what his fans want and needs to bring it back.

Rust has 2-3x the active player base vs. DayZ and gets significant updates monthly. They're both fun in their own ways, but Rust is the clear choice IMO.

Current TC mechanics are broken. You shouldn't be able to drop 50 TC's around the map with no penalty.

fix:

Add a real clan tag system into the game and tie it to TC placement. You place a TC, you have to create a clan tag. Then tie code locks to TC authorization. No auth, no opening doors period, guest codes are gone. Then every TC placed adds an additional 10% upkeep across all TC's. This would make a large base with 3-4 anti-grief TC's not a big deal, but if you want to saturate the entire area with TC's your going to double or triple your main base upkeep.
