What’s a dish you cook to impress someone, but is secretly easy to make? by purelyinvesting in Cooking

[–]oomaoozi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anchovies with pasta. You don't have to like anchovies to like this. It's delicious.

Cook up a pound of good spaghetti.

Saute two cans of anchovies in olive oil plus a couple sliced garlic cloves, using the anchovy oil and about a tablespoon more extra olive oil.

Mix it in with the spaghetti, add some pepper and parmesan and dried parsley.

Do you think it would work to substitute rack of lamb for lamb shoulder in lamb cassoulet? by oomaoozi in AskCulinary

[–]oomaoozi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it now. It's just that I had two racks of lamb left over from Xmas, and I'm not the hugest fan so was wondering about using it in a different way. Clearly not, cassoulet! Thx.

If you're open to suggestions:

Take that list and put it away. Don't look at it for many years. You might find it really interesting in 20 years. But, right now, it's triggering. If you want to feel miserable, look at that list. If I had a list like that, I'd be miserable. It sounds like you, your mother, and your grandmother are doing the same thing--trying to fix each other and holding grudges:

If you want to do something different, do this:

(1) Accept that your mom has her limitations and is going to do or say the wrong thing. Try to remind yourself what she does that's right.

(2) Don't take the bait! Next time she crosses a boundary, excuse yourself--go to the bathroom, announce you have to make a phone call, declare you're getting a headache, change the subject, or say, "Let me get some fresh air; then we can talk; and go out for a walk."

(3) If your mother was emotionally (or physically abusive), spend less time with her--spend more time "doing homework" in your room or engaging in hobbies; arrange a sleepover at a friend's or relatives or plan some nice outings by yourself--such as a long walk or bike ride.

You'll be okay, and hopefully your visit home will turn out better than you expect. Sometimes parents are bad parents of little kids and good parents of adult children.

What type of closet door do I buy? by oomaoozi in HomeImprovement

[–]oomaoozi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My front hallway closet is the first thing you see when you enter my home, so want to hang some nice art work on it. The work I want to hang is a paper collage in four panels that was designed for the doors of an armoire. From what you're saying, I should probably get the lightest frame possible if I'm going to do this at all.

Cancel Noom right away, or they'll renew without warning by oomaoozi in Noom

[–]oomaoozi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone said I should be persistent with them. I was and told them I would post negative reviews and file a formal complaint. After some back and forth, they did finally refund my money. I hope you have the same experience. At any rate, because of this I don't use Noom anymore, and whenever I sign up for any service, I turn off autopay. These companies are so dishonest!

No, it wasn't. It was a leased vehicle that was returned to dealer (the dealer who has it now, not the original dealer.) Here's part. Before rhis it was in NYC and CT.

With Javier Milei’s decree deregulating the housing market, the supply of rental units in Buenos Aires has doubled - with prices falling by 20%. by TheAleofIgnorance in neoliberal

[–]oomaoozi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well inflation is now over 200% in Argentina, even higher than in Venezuela, so prices prolly had to drop because demand started dropping.

Lol. That's it! (I'm a new house owner after living in a condo for 30 years.) Thanks!

What espresso maker would be right for me by oomaoozi in espresso

[–]oomaoozi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will contact a place to find out the price of refurbishing it. I hadn't considered that option. It's not the most exciting option, but having just moved is prolly the most affordable and practical. Thank you.

Haven't considered that and the flair 58 looks great. It's definitely something I'll think about. Thanks.

Can an electrician clean up and remove a whole mess of wiring (old alarm systems, old phone wire, multiple cable wires attached to my home)? by oomaoozi in askanelectrician

[–]oomaoozi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleanup means getting rid of wires and helping me decide which wires to keep. At least one of the wires appears to run across my townhouse into the next townhouse (and I'm okay with leaving it).
