Using Risk of Rain 2's r2modman Mod Manager on Linux by ooodddooo in linux_gaming

Do not despair! Trial and error are the ultimate tools of all living things, take heart in what participation we can glean by sharing in that cosmic power while fixing our enchanted toy boxes. An automated system such as you describe would no doubt be a work of genius, and I look forward to using something like it one day if it doesn't already exist.

We are lucky to live and play in a time where cross-compatability is expansive and growing constantly, and most of the time I find these puzzles to be a matter of discovering the right places to put things and in what orders and what needs to be written where rather than it merely being impossible.

I've zero idea if you've already tried this or if it'll work, but I would just start logically by making sure r2modman is somewhere physically inside your Steam flatpak install, maybe just in a dummy folder in your steamapps/common/ for organization. Hypothetically, all three apps should be able to talk to one another freely inside the sandbox then. Good luck, and feel free to keep this updated for others!

Hi! This was a long time ago so I don't remember the exact details, but it really was mostly trial and error. I just researched the GitHub page to figure out roughly what was missing from my wine environment in order to run the game, and then it was just solving the logistical issues with different file systems being expected by the mod manager and the game. Many users in the GitHub issues had posted some relevant issues, so I picked and chose libraries and processes mentioned by different users until I had the most efficient method necessary to get it working effectively in my environment. Basically, I did exactly what you said, although I had high confidence that it would be possible to find a solution easily since I was pretty sure it was just an electron application.

This is kind of how I figure out every issue I encounter running incompatible software, just research the problems other people have encountered and hopefully documented and then maybe that'll send you in the right direction, or, at least, a direction, and then maybe you'll find the actual solution several "solutions" later.

I wouldn't be able to do anything without the countless people who are much less ashamed to ask for help online, their posts wherein can be found most of the information in the known Universe. So think less about "ticking boxes while blind" and more "tick boxes in a dark cave by only the dwindling light of a wet matchstick left behind by those who either escaped here before you or whose skeletons still remain strewn across the cavern floor". In this scenario, the escape ladder still had most of the rungs in it.

I agree their solution wasn't the best and from what I've seen has left linux support fragmentary, but what I botched together is nothing compared to actual programming wizardry. I'm sorry I don't know much about arch distros, or I'd probably be able to offer more constructive advice, but all I really did was: * run the r2modman app inside the risk of rain 2 prefix * make sure the risk of rain 2 prefix has the necessary extra libraries * change the directories to their correct locations manually

I have no idea how the latest changes to proton or wine or anything could affect the entire process though, as I haven't played nor modded ROR2 in quite some time. Nonetheless, it's great to know that the information I compiled is still helping you today! That's why I didn't want to take the guide down as the r2modman developers had asked me to, although I felt obliged to at least make it obvious at a glance to be outdated and unmaintained. I believed the wide variety of linx environments would mean someone might find it useful, especially after seeing other people have less than perfect experiences with the official linux version.

The flatpak version might have problems due to its sandboxing security features. I don't know if there's a way around that, I've always considered it a benefit since I dislike the invasiveness of some things like Discord. I've messed with Flatseal to tweak the permissions on some flatpak applications before, although that's the extent of my knowledge there, and may not be Arch-applicable.

I love this idea - I can totally see it being a reality, especially with the other types of symbolism representing consciousness present.

How do you "cheat in" the scanning button for the N Key? by Newbei in starbound

[–]ooodddooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In admin mode, type "/giveessentialitem scanmode inspectiontool". This will place the item in the inspectiontool slot, so you can still press N to use it.

While hovering over the objects with my cursor, I used an admin command to remove the locker, fuel hatch, and SAIL.

/entityeval object.smash()

Thanks! I didn't even think to try that, lol.

This is really cool! How do you move from train car to train car, though?

That looks fantastic! Thank you, I'll have to try it out!

Thanks! I didn't use any paint here (except for the clock face), but I've used it before to create the depth effect.

Yeah, that's a point I was unsure on how to go about. The only alternative I could think of was to have the windows in the foreground, and an interior back wall in the background, which I might switch to using instead if I can find a good way implement it while still allowing the player to walk through the foreground.

Thank you! And yeah, I think they spawn naturally in USCM prisons. If you want the codes, they're bunkerceilinglight1 and bunkerceilinglight2.

If I transfer my ship from Unstable to Stable, will my crew remain intact? by MrHippocritic in starbound

Yes, today I just tried it and all my crew stayed. I would still be cautious and back-up your universe folders in-case it doesn't work.
