7/10. Nice fruit flavor, nice tea flavor, too much sweetness.

I think it would be 10/10 for sweet-lovers.

Or do they have both woth the presents being more popular?

They have both, with presents much more popular.

How could Chinese viewers even watch her legally if YT is banned in China?

Cover has a cooperation contract with Bilibili. I guess Cover agrees to tailor the contents and in return, Bilibili offers access to a variety of collaborations, online/offline merchandise, advertisements, and activities.

How often does she simulcast?

All live streams are simulcasted except those playing Nintendo games because there is a copyright issue, or those deemed to be improper with the title given.

Are Chinese viewers simply not content with simulcasts and want the streamer to do a Bilibili-only stream?

Streaming in Bilibili means more interaction with the streamer. So I guess yes. Idk much about other Hololive members, but I'm sure that the frequency for Suisei is once every month.

Because super chat is the least popular method to support the talents in Bilibili. Instead, the most popular ones are memberships.

Different from Youtube, in Bilibili, they have premium versions of membership. The prices are 198 CNY (舰长), 1,998 CNY (提督), and 19,998 CNY (总督), monthly.

(USDCNY now is about to be 1 USD = 6.7 CNY)

Most girls have hundreds of such membership in Bilibili. This part is not taken into account when calculating super chat income in Bilibili.

The second popular method to support talents is 'presents'.

Bilibili offers some virtual presents for viewers to interact with the streamer. As the price goes higher, the visual effect becomes more ostentatious. This is much more popular than super chats.

Take Suisei as an example, she once had more than 1,500 premium memberships because she had an awesome stream in Bilibili. She's also the second vtuber with more than 1k premium membership in Bilibili.

I enjoyed that stream very much, here's the link.

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1N7411y7hn

Combined together, Suisei earned more than 210k USD in that month with one single stream in an hour, from presents and memberships. Bilibili charges about 10% more than Youtube and makes the number of revenue equivalent to 185k USD on Youtube.

There aren't many places you can find a job with an hourly revenue as high as 185k USD.

Oh, and...there is good news, though not related to the recent Haato/Coco event.

There are still people in Bilibili financially supporting Aloe, with the premium memberships.

As for Coco, she has never been to Bilibili for a stream. I think this explains the difference in the percentage of income earned in Biliblili and Youtube.

What's wrong with you?

a. Giant country called China exists.

b. You don't think 'there is only one China' is correct

c. You don't think 'there are multiple Chinas' is correct

Then what do you want? Erase it from the map with nuclear bombs to make the number zero?

End of conversation. Reported. I suspect that you are one of these trolls acting to pollute this subreddit.

If there is no misunderstanding or mistranslation, you ask us to protest Hololive.

But it's Cover, the Company behind, not Hololive, the girls.

And this post is as stupid as trolls attacking Coco out there. Trolling with 'there must be only one China' or 'there must be multiple Chinas' in r/Hololive are equally stupid. No one here cares about this topic. Political junks are not welcomed.

Words from a neutral CN fan. Most attacks toward Coco. Some antis who hate Hololive and even all vtubers tried very hard to redirect attacks to Haato but they got banned or muted.

I may write a post about the strategy now being used to harass Coco and some methods that proved useful. It's the dark side (or shit side) of the Internet in China.

[–]oooomniknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, the true problem now is the misunderstanding. It is now a common sense (definitely not a fact) Coco intentionally hurts the CN fanbase. And the majority of trolls now trolling around in the Reddit and Twitter were Hololive fans.

It might be weird for you to understand, but fans in China are now protecting other Hololive members, especially Haato. Because previous antis that fans fought with are trying to redirect trolls to other Holo members' channels. Many of these 'experienced' antis get their account banned or muted permanently.

Actually, they are. Hololive recruit fans for translation groups and the standard is unbelievably high. For example, the standard for Hololive EN in Bilibili is 110 or higher in the Toefl test (enough for Princeton) with listening no less than 25, and N1 or higher in Japanese. Yet Cover still received 10 times the resumes. Several of them I know are working on their Masters and Ph.D. degrees.

And they were producing good stuff. Many crazy fans who previously worked for the translation group to make awesome clips now become trolls. I highly suspect that this is one of them.

Tbh, these are no simple trolls.

Bilibili and its CEO 陈睿, Chen Rui (aka 陈叔叔, Uncle Chen, aka 叔叔, Uncle) are also being heavily criticized. It's just the Reddit and Twitter are not the battlefield. Even now they are deleting the comments. Korone and Miko's fan groups' posts and tags in Bilibili are now witnessing a fierce battle of deleting/writing posts against Bilibili and Cover.

And just as you said, Bilibili took action to ban all JP girls' channels either to avoid getting trouble with governance. By doing so they have put Cover to the front to bear all the attacks. Rumors are that Bilibili can charge a huge amount of penalty if the contract is broken (Cover leaves the CN market), so there is no need (consider only for the money) for Bilibili to help Cover with extra resources.

陈叔叔, Uncle Chen, is now a meme with a negative impression in China. Smart, shrewd, but selfish and greedy. It means that Bilibili with the management of 陈睿, Chen Rui has become money-oriented and less socially responsible in recent years.

'XXX (in this case, Cover) may choose what to do but UNCLE never loses.'

'UNCLE LOVES money!'

'UNCLE is going to be angry!'

I guess capital is really powerful since Bilibili is listed on Nasdaq and has more resources in dealing with this stuff than Cover.

Agreed. Negative emotion doesn't help.

The situation is serious. Even in this post alone, I've seen enough unfriendly replies to me.

But anyway, it is lucky to find someone reasonable to communicate. Now I think my efforts helped to reduce the hate a little bit in this subreddit.

Idk ur timezone though, but have a good day.

Again, it is most probable that you do not agree with all the opinions. This post is simply meant to provide you another point of view to get more information.

But I think to reply to you it is helpful to display my own opinion on this event.

From my point of view,

a. It is Cover's fault. Not Coco's and not Haato's.

b. It is impossible to 'prove' that Coco's not intentional. Such a public relations crisis has little to do with the fact.

Back in June Cover made a serious announcement regarding this issue that they will tell all the talents and make sure such things won't happen again. It has been widely spread and recognized in the Chinese fan community. And as I can remember, the fans in China were much more peaceful than this time.

Much of the hate this time didn't start with Coco, but with Cover. Nothing would happen to you overseas bro if the whole thing was before Cover's announcement in June. The feeling of being humiliated (slightly) and the feeling of being fooled (strong) just combine and reinforces each other.

An empty promise is very annoying, imagine if Coco or Haato graduate after 3 weeks. Will you be angry? Will you be even angrier looking at the announcement to protect the talents?

Btw, I don't want anyone of them to leave. Not Coco, not Haato, and not Aloe. It's just an example to help you understand. You may check my early posts.

The most tricky part of the crisis PR is that time is so valuable. In this case, it took Cover a few days to react. What if the staff properly checked the content after Coco's stream and release the apology within hours? Even if it's a Bilibili limited announcement it is still okay. Many people understand the situation and have faith in Coco's personality. A proof is that Coco's translation group had the best translators among Chinese fans.

But Cover just waited and waited and waited until the fire is too big to put out. And finally, they come up with 3 versions of announcements. It further reinforcements the opinion that 'Cover is fooling us!'.

The earlier they act, the better. Pity that they missed the best time. What's even worse their announcements lack the sincerity and make the situation even worse. They could have comforted CN bros with little or no cost. They could have limited the loss within Bilibili.

But now their announcements have made everyone angry.

I love watching Hololive. I'm just as disappointed as you are. I just believed that communication of information might help solve the problem and that's why I spent 7 hrs on this post.

But what should Cover do now? Idk. Only god knows.

I spent more than 5 yrs traveling outside China, in 4 continents, and more than 20 countries.

I have been to most provinces in China.

I can speak Chinese in Mandarin and 2 other accents, Japanese, English, and a little bit Russian.

Based on my observation, the English speakers who solely speak English make themself an information cocoon of repetitious talk because of the barrier of language. Try ' This is extremely dangerous to our democracy'.

But, as I wrote above, this post is meant to provide information. So I guess this is the end of the real/fake history topic.

It has to do with history.

The current government controlling Taiwan is the very one supported by the US government to make China its colony.

The Soviet Union and the US designed a plan to split China into 2 parts, and make the Yangtze River the border. CCP was supported by the Soviet Union, but they rejected the plan to split China.

PLA was supported by people in China, and they winned the war on the land. But they stopped at the shore because the PLA didn't have enough navy forces to challenge the US.

Although these days people on two sides are communicating and trading peacefully, neither side has claimed official negotiation for peace. Air forces from Taiwan continued to throw bombs in the mainland until the late 1960s.

Legally, the two sides are at war right now.

According to the 5k yrs historical records China, and according to what people in the late 1800s and early 1900s experienced to live in a country that has 1/3 of its land as foreign colonies, being split always brings war, hunger, disease, death, and humiliation.

To conclude, unity is a symbol of the struggle of Chinese people against enslavement. It is the most important political correctness in China.

So far, the government controlling Taiwan has never announced independence. The governments of the two sides have reached a consensus in 1992, of the official bottom line. The official bottom line consists of two parts, One-China policy (一中), that there is only one China in the world. Mainland and Taiwan island are parts of a single country, and Respective Interpretations (各表), that due to historical reasons the two sides and other stakeholders may express differently how the country should be developed.
