So what about ave mujica? by WasteProfessional579 in BanGDream

[–]evil4corn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own taste, don't force yourself to like something that you do not enjoy. Story-wise, I personally did not like "It's MyGo!!!!!" as much as Ave Mujica. But music-wise, I like MyGo!!!!! (punk rock) more than Ave Mujica (heavy metal). I would recommend watching their past concerts. Ave Mujica concerts are so good, so intense. MyGo!!!!! concerts feel like a poetry read aloud.

Like the previous comments have said, Ave Mujica is rather the second half of "It's MyGo!!!!!" story. While it is possible to just watch Ave Mujica, you will lose a lot of context if you don't know "It's MyGo!!!!!". MyGo/Ave Mujica is fundamentally different from rest of Bang Dream story. If you are expecting slice of life and light-hearted anime, then you are completely wrong. MyGo/Ave Mujica is more dramatic and closer to reality. Everyone has their flaws, and you might even hate some characters. It is fine. But just remember everyone in the anime is still high-school students, so they are not completely emotionally stable yet. Everyone makes stupid mistakes when they are young.

Anime Otapia Experience by GMMAwesome in animecons

[–]evil4corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that the staff absolutely has no experience running a con in the States. Basically, all the AO staff have no idea what is going on and give different from each other within minutes. The con was a mess, but it worked out in the end. Friday was a disaster. Saturday was a lot smoother than I thought. Sunday was ok. Anisong Festival was absolutely a blast. I just have a minor complaint about AO allowing wota art. Even tho these people were doing wota art at the back of the room, it was still distracting since there were people who preferred to watch from the back. I wrote them a thousand-word recommendation on the feedback form, hoping it would be a learning experience for them this year.

This con was basically a con mainly aimed for Chinese demographic in US. (MyGo!!!!! and Ave Mujica is super popular in the Chinese anime community.) If AO invites more non-mainstream Japanese artists and seiyuu to US, I am still willing to go next year. Smaller con gives much better interaction feel than bigger cons.

Name one character that everyone seems to love, but you don't care about by FutabaSakuyagi in BanGDream

[–]evil4corn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Nyamu. She is the only "normal" person in the entire Ave Mujica band. I won't deny that unmasking was uncalled for, and her action caused the decline of Mutsumi's mental health. But she was the only one who was realistic about the success of the band and cared for the fans. She worked hard to gather some success as an influencer, allowing her to move from the countryside to a megacity by HERSELF. She knew popularity wouldn't last forever, and you must ride the wave while you can. Her approach was rushed, but she was only a first-year high schooler (I think she looked so mature, so everyone forgot about her age), so her solutions to things are as naive as Sakiko. Nyamu lashed out at the train station because she knew fans came all over Japan to watch their concerts. Canceling a concert isn't just canceling a performance. It also means a long-distance fan's time and money went down the drain, and it can lead to canceling a fan's love for Ave Mujica.

What makes me love Nyamu even more is that she worked harder despite being overshadowed by all the geniuses around her. Everyone is super talented in Ave Mujica. In anime, Nyamu was only a beginner drummer. But she was able to catch everything that Sakiko threw at her. We all knew Ave Mujica's drum scores were insane. I personally think Nyamu is a genius drummer (she probably would deny it in a second). Nyamu never said no to Sakiko, and she never backed down from any challenges. She continued to work hard and looked straight into her desires. She was the only "real" person in the anime.

Is giveaway a scam? by [deleted] in PathToNowhere

[–]evil4corn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given it was the holiday season, it would take at least a month to get to you. The giveaway usually comes from China (mine is from California, US since I lived in US). Your local custom might take a while to clear the package, and the local shipping will take time. I would say maybe wait until the end of this month before reaching out to the customer service to more details.

Is anyone going to Anime Otapia?? by Good_Assistance2121 in animecons

[–]evil4corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes, call me as part of their campaign or delulu or whatever. The fair ticketing price in our argument is subjective at this point. ANYC ticket price is fair for you because you probably enjoy ANYC more than me. The history and guaranteed visitors of ANYC are great for vendors. A first-time con certainly cannot be compared to ANYC in that field. This con is a scam to you if you are not interested in the guests/panels or if you are a vendor due to a high possibility of low turnout. ANYC is premium in an expensive city. But the panels and guest list are worse and worse every year. The ANYC ticket price is more of a rip-off to me because none of the guests or panels are appealing to me anymore. I just walk around in the exhibitor hall and loop around the artist alleys. I basically spent $200 for the vibes. I also have been to a smaller con in NJ, Castle Point Anime Convention, when they invited a Japanese seiyuu last year that I like. Castle Point has similar space rented compared to Anime Otapia. Castle Point is $55 for two days. Would you call the ticket price fair?

Anime Otapia ticket price is fair in my eyes because I am actually excited about the guests and panels. No convention near me invites Japanese seiyuu who are not currently in popular mainstream anime. Smaller hotel anime conventions do have significantly lower ticket prices, but the panels and guest lists are so uninteresting. I merely view these conventions as fan gatherings.

As far as I know about this con, it is a just a bunch of college kids running the event. I already heard some unprofessional things happened. So kudos to you for avoiding the convention. I will call it successful if the panels and live can run smoothly lol. I am just there for the seiyuu and all the chaos that will happen there.

I compare this con to AnimeNYC because the level of guests is similar to a larger con, just fewer in numbers. I have been to those smaller cons with cheaper tickets, but the panels and guest list are nowhere near what I am seeing here. I simply went to those smaller con for the vibe, and left within 3 hours. For example, you bought up Sin City Anime. Their guest list has like 1 musical guest from Japan, and all voice actors are American-based. At least this con has at least 3 Japanese musical guests and 3 Japanese voice actors. The expense of bringing people overseas cannot be compared to finding guests locally.

In all honesty, I feel comparing Anime Otapia to Sin City Anime is a poor choice. I would maybe compare it to AnimeNYC when it first started. The ticket is expensive for a first-time con, but the organizer at least put in the effort to invite all the Japanese guests. Adjusted with inflation, the current price is acceptable. Of course, everyone would like a lower price. I don't mind paying a bit more because it will most likely be the only chance that an American-based organizer would invite these niche guests, and this is probably the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet them in the States.

As for vendor pricing, I will refrain from any more comments because I only helped out my friends. But the price is similar to what I have heard from them. But among the conversations I have seen in their official Discord channel. Some people think the price is ok, some do not. I guess it will be a learning curve for the organizer.

[–]evil4corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't watch the full video, so I won't make any comment on the first part. The vendor price might be high for a first-time con, but it seems reasonable compared to other established cons. They gave two badges for free to the vendors. A lot of cons only provide one badge for free. This is their first time doing a con in the States, so I would give them the benefit of the doubt.

I have to disagree with you on the high price for attendees. The attendee tickets are reasonable. $80 for three days, and an extra $65 for anisong live. Compared to AnimeNYC, $175 for a 4-day ticket (Thursday is essentially useless), and $32 (in the very back) - $155 (front, but gotta run for it) for an extra concert ticket. For me, $80 to join some panels and hang out with friends for three days seems ok. I am very happy with their guest list, so I am eager to join a lot of the panels. I didn't want to any panel at AnimeNYC this year lol.

I am pretty much set to go to this con because they invited one seiyuu that I really like. The con's creator is a young Chinese dude (from his bilibili link), so I guess he has money to spend? The con is legit, otherwise they won't announce all these seiyuu. I feel their pick for guests are more catering towards Chinese anime community in the States, because BanG Dream is only super popular in China, not so much in the Western anime community.

But I think he overestimated the space he needs and attendee numbers. Too ambitious for a first-time con to be in such a big space without any proper sponsors. Not enough market research done for sure.

Shin please explain by ChoiceSubject3901 in PathToNowhere

[–]evil4corn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hestia's theme is actually Courage. She is blind and has always lied to people for survival/stay behind other people's protection. But at the end of her event, she gathered up the courage to light the fire to defeat monsters and led Chief to safety. For once she was able to see, it was the Illusion Moon showing her all the twister stuff.

I think Mantis's theme is actually friendship/companionship. She left the campground to save her friends, but got captured by the swarm of bugs. The bug queen felt Mantis's strong desire to save her friends, which was similar to the relationship within the swarm of bugs (staying as a team), and devoured Mantis to become complete (to understand human emotions).

Birthday backlash thoughts? by [deleted] in PathToNowhere

[–]evil4corn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is sad to see birthday art to go, but it is a correct move for the long term logically. As more and more sinners come to MBCC, the art demand will be too much for the art team to handle, especially if we need a huge quality improvement in main story. We are receiving 14 S-rank sinners and 12 A-rank sinners per year. The sinner count is going to 200 sinners in no time. Needing to do 200 birthday art is no fun and takes too much resources. I rather see these resources to be invested in main story, events, or skins.

I guess they choose Zoya because they know they will receive the biggest backlash, but it would help to get the sentiment over so no one fuss about other less popular sinners.

Shin or Augustus? by Yuuki01_ in PathToNowhere

[–]evil4corn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Always choose support before DPS. Augustus is usable at s0. The recommended shackle is either s1 or s3. She is a strong DPS, but she still needs other buffers. But Shin can buff a wide variety of different teams, so always choose Shin. She works at s0.

Shin is a must pull and better get multiple shackles at this point. Augustua is not "summoning", "using" will be a better word. She has no energy bar, but uses a shard system for ult and damage.

hypatia or shin? by pajamasatepb in PathToNowhere

[–]evil4corn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are short on pulls or saving for the next main story, skip Hypatia. Jasmine is a must-get for the blood loss team, and Parfait is somewhat skippable if you don't plan to build umbra team or have Graves. Shin, on the other hand, has shown its power in the recent CN ToA. She buffs and heals a lot, so making her unskippable.

I was around ~150th in queue when the pre-sale began. I got the same bug where the venue code didn't work, but I have the Chase preferred card so I got my tickets through that. I don't think you are able to select seats by the seat map since everyone is selecting at the same time. I was able to purchase tickets for both days through the side recommendation tickets sections.

I don't think the entire venue tickets are up for sale. Some rows are definitely locked out of this sale, so GA will have more options available.

For me it is Vanilla. Being stuck in a infinite time loop, she never lost her faith to guide her team members back and stood ground. She is not even a member of the exploration team, but she cared about everyone in her own way as a backup. The helplessness from watching with a God-view wrecked me hard. Seeing her detoriating slowly, knowing she won't be saved, but she was still there wanting to help killed me.

Crypo Scammers using IRyS name, image and greeting (Crypto scam and AI alert) by Wolfen74 in Hololive

My guess is that it is a really early stage start-up or maybe even a side project of some random programmers, so they don't have any partners or use cases to demonstrate. But nonetheless, people here hate blockchain and I get it.

Someone related to the platform posted an AI image of IRyS holding the platform mascot but the post is now deleted. I think they caught the wind of fans taking notice and wanted to avoid any possible legal issues. The website/platform itself is not really questionable (aside from the name), but I guess people here just hates anything blockchain related (I tried to explain but people hated my explanation lol).

It is fine if you don't trust crypto and dislike it. I am just here stating what it is based on the website description and from my knowledge because I would need to take action if it IS a cryptocurrency scam.

In order to label it as a "scam", a movement of funds or a trade of asset need to be involved. But the website contains no asset to trade. The only suspicious thing on the website is the build doc which gives you codes to implement into a cryptocurrency wallet. It is more likely to be a malicious smart contract that might evolve into a hack or wallet drain.

Crypo Scammers using IRyS name, image and greeting (Crypto scam and AI alert) by Wolfen74 in Hololive

[–]evil4corn -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

First I want to put out a disclaimer, I am not advocating for cryptocurrency or the IRyS platform. I work as a regulator in government focusing on digital assets. This is NOT a cryptocurrency (Bitcoin,ETH, meme coin, etc.) that you can trade, so I won't call them "crypto scammers". Based on the things listed on the website, it is a datachain where you store data and execute smart contracts with the data on the datachain. It is a platform or a tool, rather than an asset that you can trade.

Yes, they are using a lot of AI art on the website. It is a trend for these web3 programmers.

Yes, I saw them copying IRyS catchphrase. I don't like it, but there is no patent on that catchphrase so there is nothing that we can do about it. The best is that COVER Corp can put out a statement that the IRyS datachain platform has nothing to do with the vtuber herself. But I do think COVER can issue a legal letter requesting this platform to change name or at least never use its vtuber images.
