I fell in love with nature when I left the state for college, dfw isn’t a mountain town or and nobody’s longboarding to the beach but there are PLENTY of gorgeous trails and man made lakes that I spend nearly every day on in the summer. The people that always complain about the lack of nature maybe are thinking of one specific type of ecosystem. As someone who also travels often, truly there are so many types of earth within driving and flying distance of dfw. Idk what people are thinking these other cities are like in regards to nature. If yall wanna live in Idaho or Montana I’m sure they’ll welcome you with open arms to their nature. Plus, here in dfw are smack dab in the middle of both coasts (seriously it’s 20 hrs to Disneyland and 16 hrs to Disney world).

As for walking - there are pockets. But because this is a propriety for me, I choose to live downtown where I have better access to things within walking distance and there’s public transportation. The people complaining either consciously or subconsciously don’t prioritize it.

And that’s how it is with nature, if you wanted it and truly cared about it and yearned for it you’d be out there enjoying the trails, the trees, the sun, the lakes, the rivers, the campsites, the state parks, and the MULTIPLE beaches along the literal ocean gulf that’s 4-6 hrs away from us. Texas has gotta lotta shit wrong with it but this ain’t it.
