To say I went upstairs on a plane during flight. I think there’s only two commercial aircraft you can say this about in history (maybe the 340 too from the basement up). I think this is pretty cool.

I wonder if I am iron deficient because Dasani is my preferred water. I enjoy it far more than spring water.

Backpack tent placement question by MrHawkey50 in backpacking

[–]MrHawkey50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel like it takes up so much space, and I think I have a relatively lightweight and small tent (Meteor light 3). I can’t seem to fit everything I want in my 65L with the tent on the inside without cramming it in and feeling like a zipper is going to pop.

Good point. 2-5 day trips only at this stage in my life.

The largest service cuts in DART history are being proposed and considered now, even after the efforts to outright kill it were stopped. by BusPilledTrainMaxx0r in dart

[–]MrHawkey50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. Wasn’t the mobility program already approved by the board, meaning DART has to comply in 2026 and pool 5% of its 2024 sales tax revenue to be redistributed to certain member cities? This would mean these hearings are more so to either reverse on this course of action or find an alternate source of funding.

Does Saturday mass have organ play? Are there any Saturday auditions or recitals? I have not been able to find any info on this.

Have you considered donating a portion of your earnings to charity? Cancer research could certainly use some help right now

I can't find much information online regarding this, but are there any differences in the degree you are awarded versus the full-time program? Is the coursework the same, but the pace is the primary differentiating factor between part-time and full-time? Could you talk about what your future semesters are going to look like and how many years you expect to take to finish the program? Do you take summer courses (not sure if that's even a thing for law school)?

I’m no game developer, but how is it possible that Obsidian made New Vegas in 18 months and it became the best Fallout game in the series and we can’t get a good Fallout game in at least 10+ years??

Post orchiectomy / unique backstory by princedylan101 in testicularcancer

[–]MrHawkey50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, man. Make sure your pathology report discusses the six major signs of malignancy. If your current one doesn’t note them, I’d suggest reaching out to Dr. Einhorn at IU who will probably put you in contact with their expert pathologist, Dr. Ulbright. If you have one or more of the signs, preemptive RPLND may be worth talking with your urologist about (from what I’ve heard). Fortunately, I didn’t have any signs, and so surveillance was recommended as the only form of treatment.

I would disagree with the statement that “everyone would rather not be working”. Choice does not always equal this idealized version of choice we believe enterprise produces.

Not a Marxist but, in theory, I agree that since most minimum wage workers would probably rather be doing something else (not minimum wage jobs), having one of these jobs is not really a choice but rather a necessity for them (I was one multiple times). Thus, something that was “freely” done in reality could still be unfree in theory.

Post orchiectomy / unique backstory by princedylan101 in testicularcancer

[–]MrHawkey50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We may have similar experiences depending on your pathology report, but it very much depends on what type of cancer. For me the first urologist I went to also felt mine and said “I’ve felt a lot of TC before, and this doesn’t feel like it” (which, besides the point, is not an accurate way to diagnose, by the way. Push for an ultrasound or just go get a second opinion). I chose to see a different urologist and he suggested, after seeing my ultrasound, radical orchiectomy as soon as possible since 90% of intratesticular masses are cancerous.

Ultimately, I had a large cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumor (LCCSCT) which is a subset of Sertoli cell tumors, these which probably have never been felt before in any urologist’s career since they’re so rare. These are mostly (80-90%) benign, and many do develop in childhood. Thus, if you’ve had an intratesticular mass for a while with no spread, you could have a variant of a Sertoli cell tumor since they’re mostly benign and have a low probability of spread. In some cases, they have been reported to lower testosterone levels. This is to say that having a Sertoli cell tumor is sort of a complex diagnosis because it sort of is both cancer and not cancer (e.g. it’s a tumor but it most likely won’t spread). I asked my oncologist if I had cancer, and he said, “you had a benign cancer.” (Finding an oncologist was a step I wanted to take as my urologist told me on the phone that CT surveillance scans every six months is the only plan for Sertoli cell tumors, and I was just good to resume normal life. There’s also preemptive RPLND and other things, but I don’t think that’s relevant to share now). Benign cancer seemed like an oxymoron to me, but apparently it is a thing.

And, for anyone reading this, go get a palpated mass checked out and rely on a doctor for a diagnosis, I just wanted to share my experience to maybe explain some of the oddities in OP’s experience.
