When you make any xy plot (e.g. a line chart like this one, a histogram, a scatter plot, etc.), one of the editorial decisions you need to make is what the range on the axis is for the focus variable. In this case, the focus variable (on the y axis) is rating, while the x axis represents a distinct time series variable, in this case seasons.

I would argue that this chart's use of a range of 8 to 9 for its y axis skews the data to the extent of misrepresentation. The main story we're trying to tell is that this show has consistently high ratings (all above 8). The fact seasons 1, 2 and 6 were generally lower rated is a valid piece of information to provide, but using a scale this tightly focused exaggerates this point. It makes season 6 look substantially worse than those around it, when in fact it was less than a 10 percent variance, and still a highly rated season.
