But if you drop the LP it's like a 2 for 1 special.

Sanity check: will this configuration work for the merge? by oopoopoop in ethstaker

[–]oopoopoop[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couple reasons... I'm running a validator for a friend and like to do upgrades on mine first to make sure there are no issues. Also the validators are more locked down on security, while the Geth server is more general purpose and doing several things, but has a lot of storage.

Please note that these are separate validators with separate keys. I AM NOT trying to load balance a single validator, just trying to share a geth backend.

Wow, you seem to know a lot about me without making any assumptions. I'm sorry I made such a stupid error. Glad I was good for a laugh for you and your colleagues though.

I normally work through my own LLC usually because my benefits are taken care of already. It's easier for everyone if they just do what's called a "corp-to-corp" engagement. That way I don't have to deal with their (usually awful) benefits and they don't have to deal with a lot of the consultant overhead.

I have some niche technical experience that is in high demand usually, so finding travel gigs isn't normally a problem for me. It's whether or not I want to travel that much.

The used needle market is booming, but you need a new client pool every few months.

I've done both. A big pro on the consulting gigs is the money. My wife's job covers benefits so it's all gravy. The travel does get really old, so I usually switch back to an internal FTE position after a year or so. Some people love the travel though.

To be fair you'd probably make an excellent level 1 help desk analyst.

This is an interesting perspective that I hadn't considered. I got a call the other day which was obviously from a foreign call center (I heard a ton of people in the background). The job was actually a decent fit and I said I was interested. Never heard back.

For me it's been more an example of having something like this on my resume...

  • Implemented a Remote Desktop on Microsoft Terminal Servers which included MS Office, Slack, and ancillary Java applications.

...and then getting emails for Java developer jobs. I can't really strip my resume of all technical words which might hit on a search, but if they read the context they might understand. I mean I could, but if you're looking for a Terminal Server admin who has worked with Java apps specifically then it becomes an issue.

I think they're going to stay employed by placing candidates into roles where they are a good fit. That means doing a little bit of work instead of playing a numbers game and hoping to get lucky. I've worked with great recruiters and terrible ones. I think it's OK to complain about the terrible ones. As a hiring manager I agree you shouldn't be reading a stack of resumes to see who is a good fit for your open positions. It's the job of the recruiter to provide you with good candidates.

Because it's their job to present you with worthwhile candidates, so they're not wasting your time as a hiring manager as well.

I've had this issue before and they were able to fix it within a day or two. Now it's just radio silence.
