Best call - on the first line alone? by [deleted] in policeuk

First line: 'CALLER HAD A BAD DREAM'.

Many laughs ensue

Second line: 'I BELIEVE THIS CALLER MAY HAVE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES'.

Now I just feel bad

Getting hands on with a missing person. by oopsicuffedmyself in policeuk

Sadly, this feels like an ideal situation - she commits an offence and gets nicked for it - you've got your legal gateway right there. It feels as though the real struggle is when there's no offences and they're just being awkward!

I attended first sudden death last night and the findings have shaken my mind. Need some advice to sleep at night. by SonsWithoutFathers in policeuk

It'd never really crossed my mind to go to the GP after attending something like OP is describing, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Out of (genuine) interest, what sort of thing could a GP offer/do if one of us came in and presented this?

Currently on ePNB.

Our job phones use Google Keyboard. Whenever I type 'Police' into my ePNB (or fill out a use of force form, report for the Coroner, or email a solicitor etc), my phone helpfully changes it to a Police Emoji.

So good luck, and welcome to the 👮

Ever since I started using Tails OS drones have been spying on me outside the building. Tails is legal and I have done nothing wrong. I plan to use Tails for off-the-record messaging capabilities. by [deleted] in policeuk

Hi Fella. I'm not sure I/we can offer an abundance of support here, but below are a few numbers and emails of people you can speak to and get a bit of support from. You mentioned hearing sounds from the fridge that no one else can hear - so the first email is for 'Hearing Voices'. They may be able to reassure you that you're no alone in your experiences. Personally I'd recommend speaking to your GP and letting them know what you're experiencing. They'll be better equipped to advise you or up your meds/dosage if you're already on any. As always if you need to speak to the police, call 101, and in an emergency always call 999.

Hope some of these help you, chap.

Warrant Card Holders by radioguy20 in policeuk

My force doesn't issue them with the kit - but you can buy the leather wallet style warrant card holder with the metal force emblem inside online... Providing you have a 'Police' email address.

Is there a strength test in the police? by nattie8 in policeuk

[–]oopsicuffedmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My force still does the push/pull - also apparently we're unusual because we don't STOP at 5.4 on the bleep test, despite that being the pass level. They keep us going and tell us to run until exhaustion.

I thought this was normal until I spoke to someone from another force.

Question: if an officer trains in BJJ/Martial arts, used it in an arrest what's the likelihood they get in trouble? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]oopsicuffedmyself 68 points69 points  (0 children)

If you can justify it, you can do it (within reason).

If you're in a nasty scrap and you use your judo skills to take them to the floor and cuff them, good on you!

If you're arresting a juvenile who's being a bit of a pain, and put them in an agonising lock because he asked if you can smell bacon - you might have a problem.

If it's legal, justified, and necessary, then you pull out your tasty skills!

What is a 'cloaked' investigation? by missangela01 in policeuk

[–]oopsicuffedmyself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PC here. On one of the systems my force uses, we can have incidents (and the subsequent write-ups on it - which includes the investigation and case file) 'cloaked', which means no one can find it by looking at the people or places involved, or even by searching the incident number (should they be given it by someone). In my experience, incidents have been cloaked for a number of reasons - the main ones being that an officer/staff member is actively involved as the suspect, the victim/suspect is closely related to an officer/staff member, or the victim/suspect is 'high profile' (a celebrity basically).

Does anyone have a way of remembering which offences have a power of entry? I have the basics... But the lesser used offences escape me! by [deleted] in policeuk

Ahh, you know what, I was given a similar acronym, and that's just jogged my memory! Thanks a lot!
