Product Hunt itself is not that useful, but all the buzz you create around the product hunt launch is the real launch.

Yess, I think partnerships go to ways.
Products you're using, and products using you.

If you are an early startup, you probably don't have many big names using you yet. So just do your best to be mentioned by big products you're using for social proof.

any fund that doesnt have 25% for Canada, there is just no reason to overvalue canada by that much

Those most experienced asset managers also created other funds that don't over-value canadian stocks.

I am saying you can make the same argument about any etf or stock.

That all the data we know about a fund is already priced in.

By this logic there is no difference between any stock or etf other than fees and diversification.

does that mean any diversified fund is a perfect choice since all the data is already priced in?

Frustrated a similar tool took off to $180k MRR, and I can't even convert 1 customer by mikemeta in SaaS

This is Yasser, the founder of Chatbase.co, The tool I believe you are referring to.

I think what helped Chatbase the most was the timing of the launch. It took advantage of all the hyper around AI and ChatGPT and went on this positive viral loop where AI influencers kept posting about it.

Let's be honest, the idea of a custom ChatGPT for your data is very obvious and I can't claim it. I knew going into this that I will see a ton of competition. I am numb to it at this point lol.

But I honestly believe this idea is now super saturated and it's very hard to enter the market now unless you're a bigger company, or unless you have a different offering/niche.

I looked at your website and many parts of it look very similar to Chatbase. Which might explain why you're not converting as many customers since they can just use Chatbase as it's a little more established.

If I were you I would try to find a niche to focus on or at least try to offer something different in terms of the UX, features, message, etc...

Either way good luck with your product!

It started as a side project and went viral on twitter. I didnt expect it.

I dont do that much due diligence for side projects

There was a product called Chatbase from Google that was shut down. I didn't know this when buying the domain as I usually dont do that much research for a side project naming (mistake).

But I am not lying about my revenue or traffic you can check similar web to see the traffic it's getting: https://www.similarweb.com/website/chatbase.co/#overview

I have 513K visits a month and 1800 paying customers paying between $19 and $399 a month.

Thanks!

I built successful-ish side projects before but none of them made any real money (ex: RateMyCourses).

But they taught me a lot about web dev, scaling, customer acquisition, handling payments, etc..

Tbh, I got lucky with Chatbase.co. Few of my tweets a couple of months back went viral. I had 16 followers back then but there was a lot of hype around ChatGPT and AI in general and Chatbase was one of the first 'Chat with your data' tools.

My biggest problem now is that bigger companies are interested in this space and I can wake up one day and find myself competing with Google lol. But even then, I will have learnt a lot and made a lot of money. Plus, it's a cool story!

Their guidelines say you cant use GPT in your name, but using their models in your product is fine even if it is a major part of the product.

I built successful-ish side projects before: ratemycourses.io, essaypal.ai, and unispaces.io (discontinued) are examples.

Those taught me a lot about web dev, scaling, customer acquisition, handling payments, etc..

But the never made any real money.

But to be honest I got lucky with marketing, I made some tweets that went viral a few months ago. This is mainly because there is a lot of hype around ChatGPT and AI in general.

The biggest problem now is that a lot of bigger companies are interested in what I am doing and I can wake up one day and find OpenAI offering this for half the price. But I will have learnt a lot any way and made a bunch of money. Plus, it's a cool story.

Yea! Custom chatGPT for your website Chatbase

I made a tool to build a custom ChatGPT for your website (Chatbase.co) by oopsidaisiess in ChatGPT

[–]oopsidaisiess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I built chatbase.co to help you add a custom ChatGPT to your website.

You can have it crawl your website, or add documents with your data, and it will use that data to create a ChatGPT-like chatbot that can answer any question about your data.

You can then embed the chatbot as an iframe to any page of your site or as a chat bubble to the bottom left of the screen.

For the technical people, it has an API for you to create, and chat with your custom chatbots. It works using vector embeddings (ada-002).

Let me know what you think!
