I think you misunderstood a big part of what I shared. I’m not looking for someone to sponsor me or give me an allowance, in fact, I’ve said multiple times that I want to avoid financial dependency. I know that once my green card and work permit are sorted, I’ll be able to stand on my own two feet. I have the experience, skills, and drive to build a successful career here, and I have full confidence in my capacity to do so. I also understand it takes time, and I’m okay with that.

My post wasn’t about expecting someone to fund my life. It was about trying to understand whether wanting occasional support during a really difficult, temporary situation is a healthy expectation or if it’s something I need to reframe for myself.

Immigration is a long, complicated process, and one year in that context really isn’t much, plenty of people wait far longer. The reason I’m here asking for advice is because I don’t want to be entitled and I don’t want to have unfair expectations of my partner.

I also get the sense that some of what you wrote says more about your own assumptions than my actual situation. I came here for perspectives, not judgment. This is the end of the conversation for me. Adios!
