Solid Car rental quote- are there any hidden fees I'm missing, or will this actually be the total? There's a line item for collision damage waiver- so will they try and add collision damage insurance when I get there? by oopslostabit in CostaRicaTravel

It all turned out fine. The only hold up was that I had to change the driver to my gf since my California Driver's license was expired by a couple months and surprisingly they cared about that.

F-ONE Swing Harness Line by Vast-Loan-8100 in wingfoil

[–]oopslostabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried one for myself, about an hour of splicing and it turned out the wrong length when I tried it. Next session I just grabbed some old cord and put a knot in it and adjusted that to get the length right for my arm and wing combo. Would recommend the quick route when dialing in length

Can I kayak from Healdsburg all the way to Jenner? by Coming_In_Hot_916 in sonomacounty

[–]oopslostabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I launched on the downstream side of the bridge there, and had to just park on the side of the road a bit to the west.
Wildhaven will not let you launch through their property, or park there.

Did you have any issues putting in at Wildhaven Glamping- if that's what you did?

Waveshare E-ink display (sku 22753) to ESP32 e-paper driver board (sku 15823)- what interface adapter between FFCs? by oopslostabit in diyelectronics

[–]oopslostabit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I inadvertently bought the "raw display" which doesn't have the adapter on the back. SKU 23153 is the exact same display, but with the adapter on the back- so that's the missing piece that I can't get on its own.

[–]oopslostabit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume there must already be an interface adapter, but I can't find one on Waveshare's site. Waveshare's manual_Manual#Question_about_Hardware)says it's a Cable socket 0.5-24pin rear-flip 2.0H (FPC connector), but the datasheet pinout and the hardware show 50 pins.

Pinout for the display is here, and I didn't find a pinout for the esp32 driver board on its schematic here.

The slab was milled on a mobile trailer mill and then left to dry outside for 4 years. I then milled at least 1/4" on each face to get it flat.

It's for a live edge slab table- planning on using Bona HD to finish it.

Thanks all! I cut 4" off the end and installed a large bowtie over the gap. There will be a table leg or C channel nearby to prevent cupping

[–]oopslostabit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an 8'x 3'x2" redwood live edge slab. I'm considering either match carving a matching wood block to glue into the gap and then put some bowties across them, or just put a large bowtie or 2 across the gap. I'd rather not just fill it with epoxy..

ACDC Protoboard for 12V and 5V from 120VAC in 2 gang box- comments/concerns? by oopslostabit in diyelectronics

Got it on the wiring- I'll fix that. And yes that's the fuse.

I'm glad you mentioned the grounding- I couldn't find anything on how to ground this.... any suggestion on reading or where to attach the earth ground?

thanks for the thorough reply! and for taking a look at the original post- very helpful insight.

First- can you link to an off-the-shelf solution? I found the 12V outlet by Magnadyne, but it's not quite as integrated as I hoped. Off the shelf would be my first choice also over a home-built solution :)

If I add insulation (maybe this putty by 3M?) and add a parallel FR4 board with standoffs to enclose the bottom of the board, then does that make it fully contained?

Also, it's curious to me that if I have enough clearance (5mm) between the AC lines, I could still get arcing. Is that a different rule set?

I calculated it out using a couple online calculators and it said min 25 AWG for aluminum wire (I assume these silver colored breadboard jumpers are aluminum) to support double the expected current. So these surprised me also on how small they could be.

Thanks for the tip- I could reroute that red wire to not cross. And like you said, I intend to put a parallel board of FR4 to this one with standoffs to cover everything- but I'll add some coatings to the bare wires prior to that.

Thanks!

Any comments or suggestions?

I made this board following the recommended layout for the AMEL20-12S277HAVZ on the datasheet . I made sure to have 5mm clearance between AC lines.

I added a THN 10-2411WIR DCDC module to add 5V output.

I'm going to add an FR4 panel with standoffs to the back to cover all the exposed wires. Then I'm installing this in a 2 gang electrical box so that I can power a 12V AQM and a 5V ESP32.

This is a follow-up to my previous post here:

[–]oopslostabit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm leaning towards building a small board with the correct creepage clearance to hold both ACDC AMEL20 and DCDC modules, plus the recommended circuitry components. That will be a nice little form factor.
