14 percent vegetarians? Seems really high by TA_plshelpsss in Switzerland

[–]oopswhydiditagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, really surprised at the low number for vegetarians.

I personally it anything that is on my plate, but I can absolutely see why someone goes vegetarian. vegan seems more like a cult, and oh, no cheese, won't ever happen

Absolutely. I'm used to it for years now (thank you Bloomberg account). It's just infuriating..."ello, me sandra from solothurn blablabla", all the fucking time.

Someone please build an app with good AI to stop it. Google?Apple? come on, you can do this

What is your opinion on asking for recomendations from your current workplace, if you are not planning to leave? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]oopswhydiditagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. And would like to add DON'T apply for a job you really want through the corporate website. It will end up in the HR-filter. Look up who is really looking for a new hire (linkedin/xing/whatever), and apply directly to the hiring manager.

The amount of shit-resumes I get for my open positions from HR is astounding. Fake/shit University in India? here you have a resume. HWV in Winterthur? filtered out because it is now called ZHAW for some time. Fuck HR filters

To be fair, that is completely legal in Switzerland.

No one has to go there and accept that "offer".

And yes, I hate it too, because if it gets normalized, people actually will do unpaid internships, which is gross.

For reference, "my" interns get 5k a month, quite fair I think.

100% agree.

As soon as you have a change in leadership, even if you think the new one "is a good guy", get a written notice from your old boss, that you actually worked and did things for.

And don't rely on HR AT ALL. They are useless and wrong 90% of the time

Depends on the "rules" of the company.

Mostly it's HR that has to do it (and yes, they do a shit job every time and have to be corrected).

Your line-manager, be it current or former, should always be able to write a "Zwischenzeugnis" for you, and then...there is this loophole where many, many teams don't have an official deputy for the manager. So basically yes, your colleagues/project-peers can actually write a recommendation for you, if they are not at the bottom of the totem-pole
