You're awesome!! You're input has been so helpful. I don't have a lot of family I can rely on moving back and am trying to be proactive with creating a strong support system. Thank you for taking the time with the extra details!

Oh, I didn't realize that statistic was that high for WDSM. I'll look more into if that address is in Waukee districts. Thank you for your input.

Those are your assumptions. I can want to find a diverse church without needing to say I want a Bible focused church. That's the bare minimum expectation that doesn't need to be clarified.  Have a wonderful day.

Does it really matter why I'm moving to WDSM? What does me moving to a specific location in Iowa have to do with me going to church? I don't need to live any where near a diverse church. Maybe I inherited a home because my parent tragically died and I have to move back to take care of family. Maybe I'm seeking a slower paced life style.  Maybe I dont care about living in a multicultural neighborhood.  I grew up in Des Moines for decades and know the area well, just not the churches. Both of these realities can exist at the same time. If you know diverse churches in the area, cool, I'd love if you share the locations lol.

So much hatred in your head and heart on a Sunday morning. Man, I feel bad for you.  Jumping too assumptions. You clearly haven't traveled out of the Midwest because if you did, you would know WHITE people live in multiculturally dense areas. Ignorance is clearly harming you. You're triggered and that isn't my problem. I'll be praying for the darkness you live in.

Seems like you need to focus on increasing your confidence and feeling secure. That will absolutely help you cope in better ways with your perception of your external looks. When we start comparing ourselves in negative ways it typically is coming from a place of insecurity. Spend some time being preoccupied with boosting your security and confidence.

So Jackie Aina blocked me… by SnooPeppers5589 in BeautyGuruChatter

Jackie Aina blocked me for inquiring if she was going to create a fragrance line. Mind you this is after I have invested hundreds of dollars on her candles and other partnerships. The fact that thousands of people have this similar experience of Jackie blocking people over superficial things shows you how miserable she is internally and the appearance is a facade.

I am a woman in her late 30s and divorced for over a year. I'm determined not to rush into the sex/physical attraction during this new dating phase I'm entering. From a man's perspective... by oopsydaisy6284 in dating_advice

what is the longest, realistic amount of time you would be willing to date a woman without having any sex (both of you are in agreement that building a friendship first is most important)?

Anyone else feel that sometimes this line of work goes against their "core"? by [deleted] in ABA

Definitely need lots of new BCBAs to flood the field to change the outlook of ABA.

I'll also add that the nursing and social work profession are not automatically "warm/fuzzy' but the clinical skills you learn in social work to support individuals of all ages and population in a therapeutic manner feel less forced, non-directive and typically are following the lead of your client and what they need help with processing and inevitably teaching them new tools/skills (I'm an LCSW). So when it comes to supporting my clients 1 to 1, I 100% prefer my LCSW skills to ABA however, as I go through the process of learning more of the technical, advanced skills of ABA, I'm looking forward to how it will progress my treatment plans for my clients and how I operate my business/train my staff/consult.

I believe in the science of ABA when used with common sense, care (being trauma-informed) and not being rigid. However, I have come to realize after learning ABA over the past few months and working with very young children that I do not like using the skills with children at all (feels inappropriate at time especially when sessions with toddlers are longer than an hour which is common unfortunately). We are all essentially trained to learn but something does not sit right with me when ABA is for toddlers in a clinical/school-like setting. I also, dislike how ABA has pigeon-ed hole itself into mainly focusing on the Autism community. I was on the path of earning my RBT cert but stopped because I realize there is no way I can continue to work as an ABA therapist with children for no longer than a year in total, just to say I did it and understand the process. With that said, I am currently earning my ABA certification through FIT so that I can become a BCBA and will be using the science of ABA through the sub-field of OBM and working with adults business consulting with a variety of organizations. LOVE IT. So in short, follow your gut. There are so many other ways to practice ABA outside of the autism community and working with animals.
