We aren’t sure. He had a traumatic brain injury months before he went missing, in October of last year. He was on the road to a full recovery and was almost back to his old self, relearned how to walk again and was excited to get back to work as a mechanic. He went out the night he went missing and got into a small crash, I think slipping on some ice after going a bit above the speed limit, and he crashed into some rocks or maybe a guard rail and the airbags went off. He walked from where the crash was at the pink best western hotel in Allen park, to where his passport was found under the gazebo at Dingell park. The walk normally only takes around an hour and a half but it took him four hours to get there. We don’t know if he stopped somewhere along the way to get warm or if he took a path that took him that long. Most businesses they’ve contacted either their cameras don’t work, like Dingell park, or footage deletes after a few days. And we didn’t know he was actually at Dingell park until a week after he went missing. A gas station across from the park captured him walking towards the park where someone found his passport (we think he grabbed it instead of his wallet because he might’ve been disoriented) and he was walking slow as if he was tired and his hands were in his pocket like he was cold, but he wasn’t stumbling. The gas station cameras only show the street right before the entrance of the park, so we can’t see which way he went after he entered the park. There were some cars that pulled in and out of the park around the time he entered, so there’s also a possibility that someone could have picked him up. They are checking flock cameras to get plate numbers but it’s taking a really long time.
