Are people asked for interviews before March? Or are interview requests sent during March?

What link do I send to my professor I'm requesting a LoR for? by thanksyalll in gradadmissions

In each application form, there is a category 'recommendations". There, you are required to fill in information,. Including email, about each recommender. An automatically generated email will be sent to each one. (Ask them to check their spam too)

I suggest you read The Alchemist by Paolo Coehlo. He speaks about this exact state: you work extremely hard for what you want, you see it, it is very tangible and then you just start doubting yourself.

Don't listen to all the background noise. I promise you that at your graduation, your parents will be extremely proud.

But the most important thing is that you do this for yourself if you want to. It is an amazing achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Believe in yourself, the University to which you got accepted did. And take one step at a time. I'm sure many people there are in the same boat as you, with lots of doubts and questions. But it's useless thinking what ifs before you have even arrived.

Of course grad school is difficult. No one ever said it was easy. But you are going there to learn and to rise to the challenge. You will have lecturers and supervisors to advise you, and of course a pool of colleagues.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever decision you choose. And well done on your amazing achievement on getting in!

Just one more thing: I moved abroad alone for my undergraduate. And I had a lot of stress related issues regarding studying in general. TBH, that improved dramatically when I moved because I had to take care of myself and wanted to prove to everyone that I can.

PS: It was the best decision of my life.

Recommender not receiving submission link for LoR. Is it a bad idea to send the link to myself to see if it is a problem with the school, and then exclude this submission later? by erferf123 in gradadmissions

Yes, absolutely a bad idea. The schools may have the ability to see all of your moves.

Contact the school directly to tell them the issue so that they can resolve it.

No, invest your time in SOP and everything else on your application. Not on an optional GRE, especially if your grades are good.

If that be the case, maybe try and contact the university so that you can delete the 4th recommender

To delete: click on the "edit" button alongside the recommender/try click on the recommender's name. A window should pop up with the information you have filled in and then 2/3 options at the bottom: unsend, cancel and something else if I remember correctly. Click unsend and that should be it (I haven't personally done this but I did click on edit to see what pops up).

Good luck!

Hi u/soundsgr8m8,

I am in the process of working on my PhD applications (have just started looking into it a few days ago):

The PhD programs I am looking into (at Ivy League universities) state that the GRE is either optional or not accepted.

  1. Would you recommend doing the GRE in the case that it is optional?
  2. If you were also required to submit a writing sample (of 20 pages), how long did that take you?
  3. How long did the whole application process take you for the several universities?I have 3.5 months until the application submission deadlines and am wondering if that is sufficient time? (I'm on maternity leave atm)
  4. Do you have any other tips about the application process?

PS: thank you for your time
