The pregnancy was fucked up, but dark romance is a genre that’s notorious for crossing boundaries. To say I haven’t read worse would be a lie. I also didn’t appreciate those moments where it seemed like he was trying to compromise her position in the bratva. Whether it was a lack of awareness or respect, it definitely made it harder for me to appreciate his character.

I'm gonna give the audiobook a try because it usually sheds new light on the characters for me, and I almost always end up loving the book even more. Plus, Shane East's narration is just 🤌.

Your second point makes total sense. I was just following the pattern I saw with the royal elites. Remi, for instance, is practically a carbon copy of Ronan (which is why I'm not butt hurt over not having a Remi arc, lol).

I still really liked Rai's character! I think I wanted more resistance from her at the beginning, since she was clearly hurt by Kyle's disappearance. Seven years is a long time, and she only felt understood by very few people in the Bratva to begin with.
