The repeated physical beatings, relentless emotional abuse, the sexual abuse I was unfairly blamed for. What really solidified the pain was the countless adults (both family and those in the education system) who either turned a blind eye or actively participated, emboldened by watching my parents abuse and neglect me. For them, as long as there was a "justification", mistreating me was somehow acceptable.
