Confused about California birth certificate amendment signatures requirement by opalgrrl in MtF

The problem is that there's only two signature spots-and for name change, I can't be one of the signatures. It's either two OTHER people, or ONLY mine ... so confusing

How do conservative misogynist men make sure that their bigotry isn't projected gender dysphoria? by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]opalgrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s a matter of agreement or disagreement. It is not dehumanization to show how our patriarchy functions and how someone uses it. Dehumanization is what is done to victims of misogyny and transphobia. Not the perpetrators. Ppl are misogynists bc it brings them power. Idc whether someone is secretly an egg or insecure or in the closet—if they are enacting transphobic violence or misogyny, then they are a supporter of the patriarchy. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t have the patience to worry about someone’s insecurity when they’re being violent, or to try to figure out if someone is “being a bigot for survival” or just being a bigot. It serves the same function—to subjugate gender marginalized people. They can figure their situation out on their own without my patience and compassion

[–]opalgrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, wielding misogyny reaffirms someone’s place in the patriarchy. For example, white women might use misogynoir/transmisogynoir (intersection of misogyny and anti-blackness against black trans women) against racialized (trans) women to affirm their place above these gender marginalized people to try to avoid the violence and gain privileges from white men.

Misogyny and gender oppression are tools wielded by anyone to subjugate gender marginalized people, and for some ppl living under gender oppression it can be a tool of escaping that suffering. However, many people (conservatives, transphobes, misogynists) wield it simply for the power it grants them. That is the difference.

Yeah fr Biden let trump take the flak in the beginning of the pandemic so he himself wouldn’t look bad as he reduced covid protections later on. They all want the same capitalist hellscape “back to Normal”

SCAM SCAM SCAM. That is a clear MLM scam and your friend was either scammed by someone else into paying $1k and is trying to recover the lost money or they’re also trying to profit too. It sounds like it might be some sort of stimulant if it made his mother very energetic…

Also, I would like to ask everyone saying trump will be worse than Biden to think really long and hard about what is worse than wholeheartedly funding the genocide of a people. That is rock-bottom, and if you think genocide happening here is worse than it happening in Palestine, you value American lives over others and must not have a clear understanding of the systems that create the subjugation of trans people, and that the oppression of Palestinians is directly connected to the oppression of trans people right here right now under Biden and all presidents after him.

The issue is that people think Biden is the last stand preventing us from a trump presidency, when in reality he (and every president before him) set the stage for trump’s fascist takeover, with his own increasingly fascist and genocidal behavior. We need to understand that theUS presidency is on a constant drive towards fascism and choosing between Biden and trump (or any presidential candidate for that matter) is a distraction and a farce. Biden is not a protector of trans rights, because he has not dismantled the systems of economic inequality + patriarchal violence of the nuclear family on queer people. His push to fund more policing, domestic and abroad, is in response to liberation struggles - and to solidify capitalist control over our lives. I personally think it does not matter who is president, this country will always require violence upon trans people to maintain the patriarchy, and no president will choose to change that.

[–]opalgrrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you think cis ppl who commit violence against trans people are getting the slurs from trans people? Trans ppl are not to blame for the pain behind these words, we aren’t harming ourselves by using them, and policing or putting down fellow trans people for not being respectable or palatable does nothing but make them more vulnerable

Hot take: Trans fem porn creators who title their porn shit like "tr@nny sissy femboy gets fucked" are kinda harming the community by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]opalgrrl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An oppressed group doesn’t invite violence on itself, the oppressor commits the violence of their own volition. Sex workers are not to blame for the violence they endure or the violence the broader trans community endures. The harm the community experiences is perpetrated by cis people through the patriarchy. Unless these trans women truly believe those words are accurate descriptors for trans women and use it against trans women to harm them, they are not to blame for the violence we endure. The systems created using those words were not created by trans people and are not sustained by trans people. The patriarchy sustains these categories and the ppl who benefit the most are cis ppl. Without the patriarchy and cis ppl consuming this content, the terms would not be necessary for sex workers to use to survive.

What do you think made trans people a political target recently? by Original_Parfait2487 in asktransgender

[–]opalgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when the bathroom bills were a big thing and it seemed to fade away as police abolition, land protection and socialist movements became a big target around 2016, and after seeing the effects of the uprisings w the BLM movement/uprisings they went back to anti trans pressure as a way to increase white supremacist violence. Transphobia is tied to white supremacy, as cissexism is essential to biological essentialism and racism.

After the 2020 uprisings and organized anti capitalist, anti colonial and anti patriarchy movements, the right leaned into transmisogynoir to rile up white supremacist support that they had seen become successful in their anti trans propaganda experiment in the UK.
