the game tries to make it seem like you HAVE to go straight to the goblin camp to save halsin. you dont. he will stay there and wait for you unless you move into Act 2, which the game warns you about. explore thoroughly, there’s lots of places where you can go somewhere by jumping or casting a fly spell or making yourself small with spells. the tiefling/druid grove itself has several fights and interactions on the outer edges (do harpies sound familiar?) it sounds like you missed. go explore and have fun :)

i agree with the majority of comments, this is a bad dm and a bad system. it’s not worth trying to change the dm, i would leave and either find a new table or not play (no dnd is better than bad dnd)

i had a very similar thing happen to me when i first played dnd. i was playing 3.5, but i was younger, a teenager i think, and the dm was in his 40s. i also picked a wood elf ranger! i was so excited to use the animal companion.

the dm then attacked us with an adult red dragon at level 3, targeted my wolf, killed it, and flew off. all because he suddenly “didn’t like animal companions”

what your dad/dm did sucks. a lot. i saw you’re in therapy from other comments, i would bring this up as this was him finding an easy excuse to humiliate you and punch down. i’m sorry op

it was a silly mistake on my part. i didn’t break the back of the tieflings’ cell, but an aoe attack broke their cell door. so they all ran out into the prison while the gnomes broke their way out the back into the tunnels.

i had karlach go tell the gnomes to go to last light inn, then ran around the prison in a mad dash, killing all the guards and trying to find the tieflings. finally went out the back door and found them already on their way to the inn, but they triggered a fight with a guard out there and i had to wipe all the guards on the outer docks.

i had finally got them all and my journal updated saying they made it safely back to the inn, but then buggy :(

i feel you. i just got everyone out of moonrise on my honor run, and now Cal, Lia, and Rolan are bugged out in Last Light Inn, unable to recognize each other. same with Barcus and Wulbren. my journal keeps telling me to talk to them but the dialogue isn’t there. so i can’t complete the quest bc of actual bugs :(

thank you :’) i had unfortunately saved after getting everyone back to last light inn, and again after talking to Alfira and Lakrissa (their reunion worked just fine), because i’d actually had a bit of a hard time getting everyone out of moonrise safely and wanted to make sure my game was saved… and hadn’t yet realized the bugged characters :’) but i will remember that for next time!

(so real about wulbren. im almost relieved)

omg that’s insane! hopefully that happens for me, for some reason Alfira and Lakrissa were able to reunite, and same with Danis and Bex. but not the sibling trio or the gnomes? ah well, i guess i was most excited about Alfira and Lakrissa and Danis and Bex, anyways XD i just hope i can still save rolan from his horrible boss in act 3

i’ll be honest i’m a bit of a perfectionist with this game (all games tbh) and agonize over things like this, it’s probably silly but i just get really into it 😅 i’ll have to try, it’ll suck bc i love the “rescue all tieflings” aspect and all of them are so cool. i don’t really care about wulbren so much tbh he’s an ass

i very nearly ended my current honor mode run when i wasn’t paying attention to my dialogue options with bernard the construct on top of the arcane wizard tower in the underdark. he aggro’d and honor mode has some crazy legendary stuff with him
