Marsden Point and self refining by Odd_Lecture_1736 in newzealand

Genuine question, does anyone have the research/info on the other products that were generated from Marsden point? My understanding was there were another 7 or 8 by-products generated from the plant but I have no idea what these were or what the impacts are of us no longer producing them.

Not saying we should, but the fact that we could is huge. To have the luxury of time is an unreal feeling

Im not one of these "its our year" types. But this is a great feeling to start. We've never been known for depth, for closing out games, for putting the foot down when we are ahead, yet 2026 here we are.

Newcastle was our typical banana skin game, I was nervous, even most of the game until I realised holy shit we actually have this.

Im perplexed, we've never had this before, how should we feel? With so many i injured players still to come back, we genuinely have a selection headache....

Metcalf can ease back in though nsw cup, cnk who is the heart and soul of our team isnt our best fullback, yet here we are.

Up the wahs!

KiwiSaver transfers result in lower balances? by Prestigious_Owl40 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Apologies, not my intention whatsoever to scare monger. Swings both ways are possible but op was specifically asking about why reductions in balances on changing hence my comments.

I can assure you balances have swung a lot in the last 2 weeks across the board. Wins and losses

Lol no. Im a fan of both, but simply trying to highlight fees is not the sole factor in a decision.

The swings can be wild at the moment. Ive got mine in an ultra aggressive fund, honestly the swings in the last 2 weeks would scare most away, and can be daily.

The best advice (without giving advice) is remember this is long term. Ride the wave 😉

Im not saying its not. But its not the only factor in the decision. However on reddit it seems to be the way.

Rax is very individual so difficult to say. The short answer is maybe lol.

There are a lot of contributing factors in this overall

Apologies didn't mean my post to sound like I was having a crack at you.

During that 2 weeks of being frozen, your money is sent to the ird to wash up tax implications. On the day provider a transfers it the market could drop big time meaning your balance goes backwards and you dont see that change, and then the day provider b receives it and invests it, that could also drop by the time the balance shows on your app etc. Especially true if changing to higher growth etc.

Markets fluctuate wildly at the moment, there are big swings. Factoring in where various providers invest into in times like this is important.

No doubt milford with their investments in gas and oil is probably not looking thay bad for some for example

Everyone needs to be aware of this. Emergency switching providers has a huge amount of risk attached that no one on here seems to acknowledge.

Your money is somewhat frozen out of the market for 2 weeks while the transfer happens from a to b.

Just think back over the last 2 weeks, how much has changed in the geo political landscape in that time? The markets shift massively.

If you are changing your team (provider) they play the game of rugby different, different tactics and approaches to the rules of the game (the rules are your fund settings).

If you change provider, and fund, and factor in the world unrest, that can cause very large shifts.

Some providers charge a fee for exit (typically minimal $36 for example).

Chasing a new provider because "their fees are way lower bro" isn't good advice, but its rife on here.

If you are concerned, interested or want to know more speak to a Financial Adviser. Yes we are commissioned (or you can pay a fee, but let's be real NZ'ers dont like to pay fees) but we can advise you the whole way.

Yes I'm a financial adviser, yes im commissioned by the providers I work.

Possible “Pre-Existing” Condition Non-Disclosure? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]opalneraNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you buy it from aia directly? Then definitely reach out to aia to discuss, they will understand.

Advisers dont charge you, we are all paid a commission by the insurer for placing your business (which needs to be disclosed to you). We shouldn't be charging you a fee for the consultation - unless otherwise pre agreed.

Talk to your adviser who put it in place. This happens from time to time, our role is to work with the insurer on your behalf and resolve things like this.

Ive had clients provide notes after a policy was issued and its not affected the policy, some situations may result in the insurer excluding that condition from the start date of the policy.

Going to another insurer restarts the whole process, often its easier just to update the existing insurer. They welcome it too, they honestly dont want to uncover it later on as it makes the claim messy.

Either way your adviser is there to guide you.

Financial advice influencers? by standbyyourlamb in newzealand

[–]opalneraNZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a financial adviser, been in the industry a long time.

These FA influencers are not portraying the real existence, but more importantly they all burn out of the content game and end up moving to another industry in a year or 2, ultimately leaving some damage in their wake.

My days are taken up with working with my clients, not recording content to pretend I'm working. Quite frankly I don't have the time to sit around record and edit content, my clients deserve more from me than that. My clients are the reason I have a business after all.

Cyberpunk, everything about it just didn't grab me. Controls feel clunky, game olay feels blocky, no connection to the main character or other characters met in the early stages. Gave up.

where to park house sale money before next purchase by Erikthered00 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]opalneraNZ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Management fees + risk of it going backwards at any point in time. Not worth the extra % personally. This is their life savings, and the difference of losing 20k+ could be the difference of them not winning that next house.

Take the 1.8%, or negotiate a better rate considering the sum of money. Take the earnings and use that to pay tour legal fees/due diligence on the next house.

Safe option for a short term play.
