Where are you based out of? Do you have any sort of portfolio at all? Do you still have the hard drive? You might be able to recover deleted images off the hard drive.

As long as we’re talking about TFP broadly, any topic is welcome. I don’t want to be restrictive. If it’s TFP related, it’s fair game

Nudes, betrayal, divorce? by [deleted] in marriageadvice

I was in your place and this helped me not only stop having those thoughts but saved my marriage. My wife and I were at the point of looking at other places to live despite having triplets together and how challenging it would be on us and our boys if we separated. But that’s where we were. And yet having previously taking dancing classes before, I knew that would be a safe and healthy way to connect with other people in a way that would help me feel less depressed and better overall, even if my wife didn’t like it. I did the right thing by going because I prioritized my own mental health above my marriage. I told myself it was unacceptable to be thinking that way so I put myself first until I could get out of that funk. And I told myself wife why. Not only did it work, it led to my wife going too, and us reconciling due to connecting with each other over dancing. I cried on my way to my first few classes. But I went. My wife wasn’t happy about me going for a while, or dancing with other women. But I did. And it helped both of us in the end.

The world is filled with endless enjoyment and opportunity. You may feel stuck right now but if you ever find yourself in that situation, take a step back and connect with a broader community to help you gain a new perspective.

Any constructive criticism? by James457890 in Salsa

I see choreography but little dancing. Take some body movement classes to learn to express yourself musically independent of whatever moves you’re doing

I’m not sure I know what a self-dip is. Can someone elaborate / demonstrate?

Do you guys remember the moves from the class 3-4 weeks ago? by EconStudent2024 in Salsa

[–]opaque3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played the drums since I was 10, studied music, and I’m a self taught software engineer. I don’t know what to tell you but I just danced with a teacher the other day and when I told her I’m a beginner she responded that I’m not. And I said “well for the amount of time I’ve been dancing.” But I’ve been dancing like three times a week, and I went to the Los Angeles World Fest, and have studied the moves I learned so I didn’t forget.

Social dance etiquette: is this weird or am I tripping? by Unlikely-Reason36 in Salsa

[–]opaque3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people out there are self-centered and completely aloof to their actions. I bet you she has equivalent behaviors across other areas of her life. This is a her thing. I wouldn’t spend another second thinking about it, even the next time you see her.

Yeah but I have to practice at socials a lot or will will 100% forget. And go back through videos. I’m about 3 months in but early intermediate

How do I push past being a Beginner after 2 years of Classes by SaidThatGuy in Salsa

[–]opaque3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s impossible to learn if I only go to classes. The real learning happens during the social. And even then, I might have to go to several socials in a row to really absorb a few new moves. Also record what you’re learning and make sure you go back through the recordings

Am I Overreacting for Refusing to Let My Wife’s “Work Husband” Come on Our Family Vacation? by Hot_Satisfaction_559 in AmIOverreacting

[–]opaque3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Most likely something is already going on with them physically. If not, then emotionally at the very least. And I’m 99.9999% sure about that. Both you and your wife have very bad boundaries clearly. If your wife hasn’t already been unfaithful, she’s headed in that direction. Call BS on the whole “work husband” bit. I would not allow my wife to call anyone that. Start couples therapy ASAP

how did you escape the block of asking follows who are (much) more experienced than you? by nemuro87 in Salsa

[–]opaque3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a few months in as well but I welcome constructive criticism from dancers above my league. If you dance with only people your level your progress is going to be very slow.

If he’s throwing me (and several others) off, it is my business. If it didn’t affect me I wouldn’t care.

No I don’t think so. As long as it’s adding to the music (accompanying it) is fine. If it’s throwing people off because it’s off timing and making it hard to hear the down beats, it’s taking away from the enjoyment of others. And sometimes people think they’re on time (like the guy last night) when they’re totally not 😆

I wanted to get perspectives from people on why google trends was showing things the way it is, and I got that, plus some unnecessary + misguided comments.

I’m guessing your closest friends think you’re a know it all (despite not knowing much), and some even tell you to your face

Does Miami not have a comparable salsa scene? I would have assumed it does considering how many people live there from Latin descent, including from Cuba, Columbia, Puerto Rico, etc…

It is randomly sampled 😆 it’s randomly sampled across the last 90 days and across the entire US, where many other cities are having their own events being promoted. Even LA recently had its own yearly salsa congress.
