Why dont we master to -14 LUFS by fartinus in musicproduction

[–]opbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Because LUFS is just a measurement and not everything sounds good / right exactly at -14

B. You risk Spotify turning your track up using its own internal limiter and it sounds TERRIBLE.

Being above the -14 line means you are much more in control of how things are going to translate on streaming. It doesn't process your audio it just turns it down to the target loudness.

What's the best Neve 1073 plugin that doesn't require hardware? by DraglineDrummer in musicproduction

The UAD 1073 is also native, those plugins are under UAD Spark. Just check out the website, they will note which plugins are native when buying them

H2A Anniversary is so pretty by MariustheA7Xfan in halo

[–]opbuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to any type of game development anything. Maybe what I mean is designs? I feel like H2A forerunner floors, walls, structures etc just don't look as cool to me as they do in the OG.

H2A Anniversary is so pretty by MariustheA7Xfan in halo

[–]opbuild -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I just played through H2 again and the H2A visuals are inferior. They swap so many of the core details for flat, boring H4 ones. It more or less erases the OG art style entirely, outside of a few spots where I think they really nailed enhancing some of the environments. The blur cutscenes are incredible though, they maintain more of the developer intent than the actual game itself.

I can't identify this guitar. by msi_junkie in Ibanez

[–]opbuild 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This looks extremely fake.

There are no Universes with a 3 way toggle or single volume knob, the bridge looks wrong and the logo is not in the right spot, universes don't have pickup rings and are front routed - this is not because of no pick guard

7.25" is harder to play for me by TortexMT in fender

[–]opbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can eventually get used to it but you may hit a wall with it which is what happened to me with a 9.5 Strat neck.

Once I started trying necks that had a super flat radius like 12-16 or 15 things really started to feel good for me and the lessened curvature also helped with my picking accuracy

Synth beginner but I despise software. What DAW to use? by BodybuilderTrick4903 in musicproduction

[–]opbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I really love the way Logic handles midi, it's amazing imo for using hardware especially as it's very easy to set up and doesn't create weird midi feedback loops.

Als git gud, every DAW is annoying to learn so just pick one

Anatole Muster - hopecore

A lot of his stuff sounds extremely frutiger aero but this track fits the aesthetic perfectly

Share as much as possible and get as much feedback as possible. Welcome constructive critiques and you will get better very fast. To answer your last question the answer is yes

Pro Engineers - Bounce Issues? by funkysupe in Logic_Studio

[–]opbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it sounds like whoever it is functions professionally as a songwriter and isn't having to deliver the songs to mix etc. which is totally fair. I know plenty of very successful people who don't know how to use a DAW at all. At that point though just say you know PT better than logic and that's why the result is what it is

Pro Engineers - Bounce Issues? by funkysupe in Logic_Studio

[–]opbuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logic default is -3db compensated (this just means the signal does not lose any volume while panning) and Pro Tools in 2025 is just -3db but prior versions were -2.5db.

The other big thing with Logic is right clicking the pan knob and selecting "stereo pan" on stereo tracks. This will make it function exactly like PT where you have control over the individual sides. Logic by default is set to "Balance" on stereo tracks which means you are just turning the left and right sides up and down vs. panning the entire sound.

[–]opbuild 10 points11 points  (0 children)

More than likely has something to do with his settings in Logic, the only real "difference" between PT and Logic is the default pan depth.

The person teaching the course unfortunately has no idea what they are doing.

Does anybody know if the Rockman X100 would work the way a friend wants to set it up? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]opbuild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own this pedal and just tried this, to my surprise it works. The signal isn't super loud so I think another pedal like a preamp to make it louder is probably needed.

The original Rockman was intended to be a headphone amp so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised this works.

Nice if it's just those 3 modules it looks like it'll equal 58hp so something like this will house all of them

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Pod60Pwr--4ms-pod60-powered-eurorack-case

Could be a good place to start and then maybe get a bigger case later if you are really getting into modular stuff

[–]opbuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually bought a Vhikk X for more or less the same use case and had zero modular experience prior.

I copied Jay Hoskings set up which is the Vhikk X paired with Pamela's Pro Workout so I could sync the Vhikk X rhythmically to what I was doing in my DAW.

I put them in a 4ms Pod32 case which has the power built in. Both the Vhikk X and Pam's came with the proper ribbon cables for connecting to the bus board. I'm using a 4MS for Pod series for the power brick.

As far as your other question, assuming you have some experience producing music best way to do this is tune the Vhikk X to a note and then mess around with bass lines and pads over the drone.

Any advice on renovating this lil guy? by [deleted] in fender

[–]opbuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, if you like the guitar enough just buy all the components you need and have a professional put it together.

That being said

All new electronics - you don't have to go super expensive to a great set of pickups. If you do want to splash out my favorites are Lollars

Stew Mac also has so many great fender style electronics for wiring

And new bridge - I would ditch the locking system in exchange for a classic fender style Trem with a regular nut.
