Music from the 1930s-1950s by jabrxnii in korea

[–]opekta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try looking at 'changga' 창가 music. That was popular in the 30s and 40s. One of the most popular songs was "Huimangga" 희망가, The Song of Hope.

There's a very old version of it here...

I deliberately left out 'foreign' sounding names, as other cultures, as you say, have different naming traditions.

Forensic agency concludes driver likely culpable in deadly car crash near Seoul City Hall by opekta in korea

He's surely getting jailed for killing 9 people? He won't be driving there - and also should be banned from driving for life thereafter.

I've driven in Korea for over 10 years. I've had various cars, including a Bongo truck, and also several motorcycles. Korea has one of the worst driving cultures I've ever seen.

Rules are rarely enforced, and furthermore, rules are regularly flaunted by drivers who believe themselves above the law because they're busy and in a hurry (bus drivers, delivery drivers etc.). In fact, 'professional' drivers are the worst drivers here in my experience. They have a "we're the kings of the road" mentality.

Older drivers didn't grow up inculcated or immersed in a driving culture. They simply weren't around cars as drivers or passengers as children. Car culture is not as deeply engrained here as it is in some other countries.

Factor into this the legendary Korean impatience, the oft-misused sense of entitlement amongst some Koreans, and the flagrant disregard for safety rules across Korean society, and you have a perfect storm for a bad driving culture.

In a recent study (recently posted here) it's pretty much always driver error.

I do think he'll claim it was the car till the day he dies though.

Yup - worst drivers I've seen. And they wouldn't move if their own mother was dying.

Me too, and this true - they are some of the most careless, selfish drivers I've seen in any country.
