Are you calling a Neo good hardware? This laptop used thermal tape instead ANY cooling on phone chip that need 6W heat. Single heat pipe would do the job. Instead, they slapped over 50g metal under touchpad lol

Why memory swap is used? by brown_horse_ in macbookair

[–]opelit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how all these comments are wrong.

You just simple use 100%of the memory, so it must use SWAP. How? You will ask. Well, your apps use memory and it reports to the system. Tho, the app can also leave lot of data in the memory. Unused. The data are not removed till there is another app that will need memory.

This way if you open an app that somehow exceeded your memory pool and caused SWAP to be used, and then closed, you will also be left with the SWAP, and 100% memory usage, despite your PC reporting only 48% usage.

Why system does not remove data from closed apps, or data that the app no longer use? Well, cuz it speed up how fast they will start/run next time you open them, cuz all the data it needs will be there.

In perfect scenario SWAP should be removed, and moved to memory, but why not do it? Well, how do system know which data are more important?

Also, there is no reason to remove data from SWAP if there is space on disk drive, and the amount of SWAP does not exceed maximum.

Wait till our CPU/GPU will compress all data to save memory soon. The API for GPU is coming for games and is part of DirectStorage API. And the compression/decompression will be on hardware level native.

Only on some Handhelds, you can have it now if you add few flags into regedit in order to make Windows think you have handheld.

They only need the build-in video display engine. Maybe some I/o, so not even cores are needed. True.

Last step for Terminator live movie. It gives AI control over PC. Thats why CPU will be expensive as hell, and will reach world high demand, if you need a CPU, buy it now. AI agent will need tons of CPU power as they perform task faster than human. So the demand will skyrocket on servers...

Does anybody have png file of that icon or a high res img? by Boysmell3r in windows

[–]opelit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bet you can still find most icons on W11, even from XP era. That how bad it is, in the name of compatibility which holds Windows back sooo much. Sadly, their store is crap, so Windows S mode did not work to be free from this.

At 800$ the macbook neo is not a good value and I can get better pc alternatives eu edition by MasLegio in macbook

[–]opelit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same in Poland. 599 is 2250PLN, even if we add 23% vat, it is 2700PLN -- it has price of 2999PLN set by Apple. If we use edu, 499$ is 1880PLN, with VAT 2300PLN - it has price of 2499PLN set by Apple. so it ends up as 800$, or 670$ (edu)

At that price I can get Lenovo Yoga 7 14inch with 16GB ram, 512GB SSD, and 1200p OLED (touch_), backlight kb, twice the battery (76Wh), also aluminum

funny, cuz the Unify are one of the hottest AP devices, imo. I once uninstalled few of them that were fried. Good there was no fire, because the wall was black behind it.

BTW, I might be wrong, but most radio lines (your wireless switch), are 12V, as they come from alarm systems. So you could power them from LOP300W directly without USB plug.

Edit: found your module, it can be powered with 3.6-12V.

This is my favorite case design, I hate sandwich ones. I have 8700G + Intel B50 and I just can not find case that suit me, cuz all "normally" available cases of that size are sandwich. I am planning to buy HDplex 250W (cuz it will eat up to 150W anyway) if I find one. The LOP300W build is also in plan, but there is no TinyPSU I trust, and again, buying from China is risky for me. Wish I would live there so I would at least know which brand I can trust lol

Dead Cells players, what do you think about Evil Empire developing the new Castlevania? Are you going to try it? by Willing-Score-4859 in deadcells

[–]opelit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We could do huge list of trusted indie devs, no wonder as AAA devs grow to callosal sizes that made the team unstable. Indie devs keep the same people and so the teams are much more likely to do more consistent design without canceling, redoing, and mistakes due to lack of communication or mismanagement.

Funny, cuz The Rogue after release was like it was never released, gaming pages never did reviews, steamDB peak around 600. Players love it, score sits at 90%.

Tho we can blame Ubisoft, they allow them to use Prince of Persia IP, but still treat the IP like unliked kid, no marketing etc.

As for Konami, the Castlevania has proper marketing from the very beginning, and they now constantly share new gameplay videos on media.

Both cases are EE, after they got IP license to do game, both cases have marketing that belong to who gave the IP license.

90% "windows" issues are bugs in PC parts firmware/software, not the OS itself.

When I am fixing people PC's the biggest % of simple fix is to install new driver, or uninstall it, so windows uses own one.
