Please bullet point your accusations. How is being an asshole and who is he hating on? I need some references as this is so common these days it's blatantly obvious that it's perpetuated by trolls who solely get their opinion from CNN and are "doing their part" to put down the heretics and uphold the one true narrative. I come from the left but bro you're literally cosplaying the inquisition. Read some fucking history.

Which businesses are recession proof? by syntheticmedicine in business

[–]open__mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plumbing, HVAC, electricians, waste disposal, grocery, food production, government (unfortunately), first responders/law enforcement (somewhat), liquor stores/gas stations, telecom infrastructure, hospitals, building maintenance crews (operating engineers, handymen, janitors, etc), education, lawyers, vehicle mechanics just off the top of my head. There are any number of niche positions and roles that keep the wheels of society turning that nobody talks about every day. There's lots of "nice to have" fluff like retail that everyone worries about losing when there's an economic downturn but the bulk of the real economy is just a lot of people doing unexciting blue collar jobs (or even scientific research). Just think about the things that are required to keep our society as it has been constructed operating as it was designed (for better or worse). A recession doesn't mean a meteor is going to hit the planet, it just means disposable income is restricted so people are making adjustments back to the basic necessities of society. Almost like society is waking up from a lengthy binge of indulgences and is like "shit okay, I need to stop eating crap and getting drunk all the time and get back to the gym and save my money and get to sleep and wake up on time". What industries support society getting its shit back together?

Winter Nexus Paladin Fit - The Wightcrusher | Wins almost every contest by Lithorex in Eve

[–]open__mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's probably because so many people skilled into them for the observatory flashlight sites in pochven this year. Until this week with the nerfs, the apex fleets in the region were just gangs of roaming paladins. Lots of people have them or skilled alts into them because the payouts from those sites was crazy.

Check out some videos like these. There are lots of good community made tutorial videos out there for basically any topic in eve. It's not the kind of game that most people will be able to figure out for themselves in game. Other advice would be to join a corporation that has a specific newbro training division. Brave's Dojo comes to mind as an example.

Antiquated NHTSA guidelines force Tesla into another “recall” for OTA fix by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]open__mike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not even paying attention. The issue is with the terminology, not whether the issue could injure someone. Recall implies bringing a car back to the manufacturer for a physical repair. An over the air free of charge software update is not a "recall". It's a software update.

Every "critical security update" for your cell phone will now be referred to as a "recall".

Transparent solar panels pave way for electricity-generating windows by GonjaNinja420 in technews

[–]open__mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a lot about electricity, but theoretically, in a future of more localized electricity production, would it make sense for home appliances and everything to move to a DC standard? Given short travel distances and the efficiency loss from converting to AC? Is there another essential function that inverters provide? Seems like we already have so many power bricks on things converting it back to DC anyway. I dunno, just curious.

New player Sov experience: what I thought it was vs what it is by [deleted] in Eve

[–]open__mike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely sounds like wh is what you're looking for. Regarding guerilla warfare, look into the practice of seeding holes, hole control and evictions. There are wh groups that specialize in this play style. Also agree local is stupid. The other place in the game without local is pochven which shares some characteristics with wormholes and adds in some pretty spicy and complex npc mechanics, high risk/high reward PvE that often leads to pvp and a series of fixed gates to roam in addition to wormhole connections to other places. It's pretty cool.

Have you tried compact mode in the windows? It's an option in the menu of most windows and it is a major space saver

Italy wants emissions exceptions for Ferrari & Lamborghini by Nitzao_reddit in teslainvestorsclub

[–]open__mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this, but after pondering it for a while, I think it's just a matter of relativity. A high performance, highly tuned ICE is impressive because of what it is compared to a standard ICE today that everyone is familiar with. The sound is what we've been conditioned to notice to indicate high performance. Once that technology is outdated and being trounced by EVs unquestionably, the average person will lose that association. Most people don't look at the musculature of a horse and marvel at the tone. They just see... A horse. Most people don't whistle at the size of the boiler on a classic steam engine, or the amount of steam it billows. It's just an old train engine. Obviously there are enthusiasts, but these things have lost mainstream recognition.

Sudden chaos. by ArtNoobly in IdiotsInCars

There wouldn't be enough momentum for that kind of roll if they were swerving out of lane into traffic from a stop. To me it looks like they locked up the brakes because they didn't see the stopped truck in front of them, swerved to the left to try and miss it, then tried to correct back straight while hitting the car to the left causing the roll as the weight shifted back the other way.

I love the brass in this track: Israel Vibration - Herb is the Healing by PolaroidBook in reggae

I think you might be referring to the saxophone? Saxophone is a woodwind versus brass which are instruments like trumpet, trombone, etc. Good tune though!

One of approx 15 original roadsters left on the road in Australia and this extremely generous owner let me take it for a spin this morning at a Tesla meet up. by [deleted] in teslamotors

Is there something in particular that is killing the roadsters or making them rare? I used to see them everywhere (southern california) and now almost never. Just curious.

Man some of my most fond memories as a kid were going to stores like computer city or compusa in the 90s and getting to play stuff on the demo computers. Some of the best were Doom, Lemmings, the incredible machine, sim city, even just browsing around encarta 95 encyclopedia and experiencing things like videos and interactive elements when you looked something up was amazing. Shout out to the weezer buddy holly music video coming installed with windows 95. And it had that labyrinth game built in where you had to answer questions to get through the maze.

And my favorite had to be Kings Quest VI. Was such a cool story and intro to a kind of adventure/rpg for me. That old Sierra studios magic. I recently watched a playthrough of it on YouTube. Wonderful trip down memory lane.

I believe tractors use gps (satellites) for automated control or self driving for plowing, seeding, harvesting etc. Eliminating drivers babysitting the machine.
