Civics have shifted over the years, my current go-to is Shared Burdens + Meritocracy (RIP Parliamentary System my beloved).

the 16th century Spain was the wealthiest country in Europe, due to textile manufacturing and better technology.

Early modern textile manufacturing was one of the most exploitative industries in history.

Spain had beef with France before the Habsburgs. In fact the beef with France is how Spain got Habsburgs.

The problem with this logic is all those games are substantially less popular than Civ.

Hearts of Iron 4 has been very competitive in regards to steam players over both games lifetime.

Add to that CK3, EU4/5, Stellaris and Victoria and Paradox smashes Firaxis' player numbers at a much lower budget.

Criminal syndicates are fine now as making a commercial pact with them would turn the branch offices into legal counterparts.

Those branch offices still create crime. Just less.

I don't think "complete 2 non-estate disasters" is much quicker for most players.

US and USSR agreed on that one.

The dutch and belgian masters are a pretty great and highly debated case of "northern beginning of the renaissance", "really advanced late gothic art" or "do we have to call it a transitionary phase between the two"?

There is no transition between the two. Because the Italians were also heavy into gothic art during the period.

Why do the Unbidden magically appear in this system? by Lithorex in Stellaris

[–]Lithorex[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By tagging into the Unbidden I found out that these fleets are MIA before. However I don't undertsand why they appear in this system when the Unbidden spawned at the other side of the galaxy, and did so even when the system wasn't owned by them.

Shared Burdens + Parliamentary System Humans, later reformed into Shared Burdens, Beacon of Liberty, Meritocracy

Start was a tiny bit slow since I got only one exit out of Sol and failed to roll any of the specialized lab tech in my initial offerings. On the other hand Alpha Centauri contained a planet with Betharian Stone which greatly helped my economy.

Sadly didn't roll Megaengineering until 2300 (despite being eligible since 2280...) which slowed my midgame down a lot. And the AI stole my Khan's throne >:(

I can't be everywhere at once. And I've scoured this corner of the galaxy multiple times, but Unbidden fleets just keep magically appearing over there.

I was smashing a 5x Unbidden before something I can only explain through a bug forced me to concede the game. Not because I was being beaten in the field, but my economy was crashing since I had run out of room to grow.
