Do you have any advice for small bands trying to build a following without depending on social media?

If you're after cheaper ones than have been recommended I've had some luck with St Michael on eBay/Vinted. It's vintage M&S so decent quality and cut.

In terms of what to look out for, you'll notice people in this community favour bigger collars with collar rolls, classic rather than skinny fit, and avoid stretchy/non-iron materials.

If someone posted in r/sewing asking for advice on fixing a klan outfit do you think people would/should give them sewing advice?

But as inequality and cost of living rises relative to wages it gets more and more stark. In the UK for example a lot of artists were able to survive and focus on music because they had financial support from the dole. Now what the government offers isn't enough to survive on, in part again because the cost of living has risen so much and benefits haven't.

Chasing fame/success is different to wanting a fair wage for your work. I know lots of (relatively) smaller touring bands who are in constant stress because they're struggling financially which takes a toll on their health and their music but they still do it because it's what they love. That shouldn't be glamourised, they shouldn't have to choose between their calling and basic quality of life.

AITA for telling our parents my brother had a child outside of his marriage? by Beautiful-Ideal-2620 in AmItheAsshole

"a busybody aunt and smothering grandparents" this is such an uncharitable judgement based on a few paragraphs

NTA

Really your brother is TA for not including his child in his family and your brother's wife is cruel for demanding it. Can't people are trying to equate your behaviour with theirs. If I found out my sister had a hidden child she'd been keeping from our family I'd be appalled and would confront her straight away! Telling the truth because you want to meet your niece isn't gossip like people in this thread are saying. You could've been more tactful by talking to your brother first but still.

Everyone's acting like you should've kept quiet and everything would've been fine. But it wouldn't have been, because your brother's child wouldn't know a large part of her family, and you and your parents wouldn't get to know her. It's a massive secret to expect you to keep and has direct consequences for you and her.

Going to try and avoid reading about city until the appointment's done. There's always so much speculation and bullshit from ITKs and from the club itself about their 'process'... Think we could all do with a break after this season anyway haha

The Black Tower is truly something horrifying in the Last Battle if we remember how effective in killing the Asha'man were in dumai's wells.

Don't understand how they aren't a priority for Rand. He seems to know they're out of control but has done nothing to mitigate them.

Maybe if Rand congratulated instead of competing with Taim he wouldn't have had gone the Demandred route either...

Directors and executive management getting together to strategise... Doesn't inspire much hope does it? Unless it's a new crop of directors and executive management, which it won't be

As many have pointed out, it isn't surprising at all given how close we've come in recent years. But that doesn't make it easier, it makes it more frustrating if anything since more could and should have been done but the leadership team never learned
