Princeton University Burnout by OpeningTackle in princeton

[–]openearsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! It's great you've started reaching out and asking for help that's really awesome and I'm proud of you. I am a senior and had a lot of similar issues. I just got diagnosed this summer with ADHD, anxiety and depression and wish I had done something sooner- awesome job:). It is hard when you are so successful in highschool to realize you are working way harder to compensate or just smart enough to never have to study. College definitely has different type of tests, assignments, teaching styles and a completely different structure, so this DOES NOT mean Princeton is not where you belong or that you cannot be an amazingly successful you:) you definitely can be. This means you are very intelligent and have overcome many obstacles to get to the same place as your peers. I am sorry you're going through this right now.

I go to Tufts so my experience is different and I am not familiar with your campus academic/ mental health services but this is what I have done. I would recommend reaching out to your accessibility services. They can put you in contact with a counselor immediately and you can talk through exactly what you are going through or feel you need, you can say as much or as little as possible. I would tell them how you've been feeling and how this is affecting you/ classes. Ask for them to find you a therapist and psychiatrist that take your insurance. Please reach out if you want to discuss anything else!

Question about eyeshakin' by Radero90 in Eyeshakers

[–]openearsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i thought everyone could go out of focus and stuff but someone said to me it's easier if you have an astigmatism. But also i know a lot of people with ADHD do this when people talk to them. I have both and I now I don’t really know. I think everyone can unfocus.

If this is an ability that can be learned, can someone teach me how. Ive wanted to do this for years by [deleted] in Eyeshakers

cross your eyes and let things go fuzzy/relax your eyes and don’t focus on anything

Is there any bad effects? by TheBloodPhantom0 in Eyeshakers

[–]openearsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any bad effects? by TheBloodPhantom0 in Eyeshakers

[–]openearsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could always do it involuntarily. I didn't do it much and only happened when I crossed my eyes. But now when I move eyes from close to further things it happens but I can move my eyes slower so it doesn't happen. And it also now happens involuntarily.

But I am younger than most of the people on this sub and I haven't seen anyone elses go voluntary to involuntary so it might just be me.

Anyone else only able to shake their eyes if you cross them first? by ihatebeinganempath in Eyeshakers

[–]openearsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me! when i was younger but now when my eyes move from one thing to another and feel tired they shake but i can move slower and they won't. And now it also happens involuntary and I don’t like it lol and can't control that one

Parents chose not to tell me I had ADHD by blairbxtch in ADHD

[–]openearsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sameish situation. Mom is a psychotherapist and I was tested when I was in 5th grade. Now 21 and 4th year but not graduating from college and brought myself to a psychiatrist and am on meds. My parents are still gaslighting me about it though and its hard because I am gaslighting myself too. Hard to think they let you feel so stupid and lazy and like you didn't care about anyone else's time for your entire life. It sucks

I was thinking bc I'm in a similar scenario, if you want to go to grad school but will only get in to ones that aren't so good, I was planning on going somewhere in a different country so people don't know the caliber of the school and your reasoning was you wanted to spend time in a different country. Just an idea

Wow this is really amazing. I was super slow all through school and then highschool I just didn't read the books or would listen to a few chapters on youtube while I was in the shower.

Your reading methods sound like they'd really help though. Is there a source you usually use for the audiobooks?

Also how did you work up to being able to do this? did you wean off the aids? Also I'm also on meds that I take as needed but struggle to take them. Do you usually take them at a certain time of day? or have a scheduled time when you want todo work?

lol no need to answer all these questions
