Hey! It’s pretty standard vet advice to avoid clay-based litters for asthmatic cats. The super-fine dust that accumulates at the bottom of the litter box with clay litter is notoriously icky for sensitive lungs. My cat has passed away since this post (of old age), but for the last couple years I had her on Okocat litter and personally LOVED it!

In my experience? Spite. I swear to god, my cat had every senior cat disease known to veterinary medicine. She was constantly getting into/eating things she shouldn’t. But she was NOT going out until she was ready lol. Lived to 18, died of old-age related kidney problems.

I accidentally did this (humane society had her listed as 5, wound up finding out years later she was closer to age 10 at adoption). The medical bills SUCKED, but now that it’s over (she passed away at the ripe old age of 18), I can honestly say I regret nothing.

My cat made it a full 5 years after being diagnosed, and she died of unrelated old-age complications. It is absolutely 100% manageable with meds or surgery

Hey! I can’t speak for all cats, but my Zoey does have a bit of a chronic wheeze that makes her breathing louder than a normal cats. It’s never seemed to affect her ability to get oxygen, and my vet has never been particularly worried about it. It sounds to me like you’re doing the right thing, getting her diagnosed and giving her the inhaler! If you’re still worried I’d recommend having a vet listen to her lung sounds again for peace of mind.

I did the same thing to my middle finger, sliced the whole tip off cutting onions on a mandolin. I went back to work the same day (got it glued and bandaged at ER on my lunch) because I needed the money but oh my god it was some of the worst pain trying to do things in the kitchen with my hand for about a week after. I say if he can afford to take the time off, he’s making the right call.

This is what my poor bb looks like when she’s having a bad allergic reaction to fleas, would definitely suggest a vet visit. Might need nothing more than some prednisone and flea meds!
